Help, Help, Help rear half shaft not coming off

OK so I checked all the manuals before I started and got all the parts I need.

I take off the wheel, I undo the 5 bolts holding the rear half shaft on and thats as far as I can go.

How do I get the rear half shaft off, I have hit it with a large hammer and the shaft and hub move relative to each other but there is nothing to grip onto to pull the shaft out:(

jack up only the wheel that youre trying to remove the drive flange from
lock up the park brake (and put it in gear if its one of the fronts)

with the 5 bolts removed turn the wheel and you will see the hub slip behind the flange.

line up the bolt holes of the drive flange with the wheel studs

remove the wheel (you read all of this first and slackened the wheelnuts off before jacking it up right?)

swear, lower the wheel, crack the wheel nuts and jack it back up again then remove the wheel.(this step is optional if you had the forethought to read the whole thing first)

wind a wheel nut back onto 2 nearly opposed studs then use that as the fulcrum point for a pair of pry bars.

and it will lift away easily bringing the halfshaft with it unless its a front on anything but a 110 with an early rangie style front end in which case you also need to remove the circlip thats under the rubber cap. (or the nut under the metal cap on a series)

Jack up only the wheel with the shaft you want to remove, apply park brake and rotate the wheel to break the 'seal' between drive flange and hub surface. Then just tap a small flat blade screwdriver between the hub face and flange to force it outward. Should come out easily UNLESS it is twisted in the side gear spline in the diff...:(
