Just when all was well, one more job to do.
Fix the oil leak from the oil pressure valve.
After fiddling trying to get the circlip out and succeeded.
The Gods dealt me another Blow!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
The cap and spring flew out under pressure.
I have the circlip,
I have the spring. But Buggered if I can find the Cap:(
Checking Rave, there should also be a valve, I took to the oil pump with a mirror and there is something that may be the pressure valve seated in the bottom. I have felt all around the engine bay and I can't find it.
I hope these are a servicable part.
NOTE: this is a Serpentine Belt Pump not the earlier ones

I had the same problem, it flew to bits when i removed the circlip,

After looking for about 20 mins i found the cap (the part with the o-ring) sitting on top of the chassis near the steering box.
Have a careful look around there.
The only thing that came out was the cap & the spring
Good luck

Luke

Well it's been a couple of hours, I'll give it another go when I calm down and regain my composure;)
All else fails, I pull the battery out incase it some how shot under the battery base. And as a last resort I'll put the hose in and pressure it with water, if it's in there, it should wash out.

Now I see why Stealerships charge so much labour, you spend half the time looking for 'bo-ings and twangs':o

bugger, up untill about 3 weeks ago I had a spare one sitting around from when I had to replace my timing cover due to overtightening oil cooler pipes but I have since mooved house and turfed a whole lot of 'useless' stuff in the bin

Yep been down that track many years ago, I was lucky to pick one up for $100, all second hand ones were wanting $300-$400.

Hooray, I found it, I went over every nook and cranny again for the 4th time. I pulled back the protective foil on the steering arm and glimpse a shiney gold object's corner sitting on top of the engine mount:), No wonder the damn thing was leaking, the rubber O ring was hard as a rock.

Of course Land Rover in their wisdom seemed fit to make it a skinny profile O ring. I pulled out the O ring kit box and they are all fatter, so they sit proud. It's going to be fun getting it back down the bore.:(

Now that all the oil has dripped out of all orifices, I suppose my oil pump will be dry? I just hope it primes up again. I will disconnect the Coil lead and crank the motor slowly and see it it primes.
Another job for buster tomorrow.;)
I was panicking, I checked Microcat parts cat and thee was not part number, in fact it didn't show the the serpentine belt timing cover only the old one with the bolt on pump. I think it must not be a service item, lose it and you are forced to by a new case cover:vampire:

I had a bugger of a time getting the cap back in,
I was able to get enough pressure with my thumb on it to hold there for a few seconds and then gently tapped it in further using a socket, it took several attempts and a few choice words but eventually got it in,
I was fortunate enough that it stayed in place whilst i put the circlip back, only because of the new fatter o-ring.
Oil primed up straight away, and i had the oil cooler lines off as well.

I've got a length of threaded rod, I was contemplating making a DYI expander tool that I can hopefully brace against some where on the chassis and screw the rod to push it home and hold it whilst I fit the circlip. Will see how it goes by hand first.

It must be a common fault, my old Timing case oil pump leaked, the replacement one leaked also.

Another way from underneath
Use an extension out of a socket set against the cap, then lever off the steering box onto the extension with a tyre lever, pushing the cap in.
Anything is worth a go,

I tried that and all it did was slip.
But, I ended up putting the cap with O ring into the deep freezer for about an hour. Success !, well almost. It went in a beauty, but I couldn't get the circlip back on in time, and when it warmed up I couldn't get another go. So into the freezer again overnight to have another go tomorrow.

With the hour and hours spent on this blooooody cap!, It would have been quicker for me to pull the timing cover off and did the job on the bench:mad:

:):):):) My good mate Tony called around to assist early Sunday morning to have a go, then went home after a few choice words and then came back 3/4 hr later with a tool he made.(He's a bit of a thinker and DYIer ) A flat bit of steel with some foam padding To assist in non slip (This was to lever off the steering box) a bolt and a cylinder "slidey thinga a jig" that fitted over the bolt.

He fed the circlip onto the' thing a jiggy' and levered the plug into the pump body and the circlip followed suit and it installed. Took all of a couple of seconds.
Cost me a cuppa after that.:):):):):):):):):)
