Hi Folks

If I have access to a set of factory mags at 18" and standard tyres do I need the guards i.e. the upmarket plastic flairs as I have the 16" base model.

The 18" have 255/55/18.

If they are the same rolling diameter as the 16" and XPC's then I think it should look the same, save the wider tread?

Any advice appreciated.

Geoff

No !
They were just added to make the vehicle look upmarket & differenciate between models.
The rim width does increase the wheels/tyres out beyond the guard.;)

Thanks for that so the 18" will be sitting outside the guards then I will need the plastic to remain legal then, thanks for this, Geoff

I guess only a D2 owner base model with 18" will know this and help us out here, Geoff

looking at my HSE with 18's and the 255 55's. the side wall of the tyre is 20mm inside the flare, the flare is about 10mm thick, so you should be 10mm inside the guard without the flare's on.

I have D2 running 18's with 275-70-18's (33's) and they are just inside the top lip of the guard.

So factory tyres will be absolutely fine.

My D2a has 255/55 18's and doesn't have factory flares. The tyres are well inside the guards.

Sorry Phil, My BIG mistake.

It does NOT increase the width outside the guard.
