Had the bonnet up on the fender at the shell in colac yesterday having a closer look at a noisey bearing, when out of no where came another fender lover to check if I was ok.. I might be selling my 300tdi 130 soon but I'll never get anything but another defender, it's gold how complete strangers are willing to pull in and say hi and check all is ok. Thanks to the great guy in the chipped td5 from colac for checking we were all good.

:D....... and then when you get back in the defender the other people you are traveling with ask you how you knew them, then you explain the landie law and they look at you like you shoul be in the funny farm:p

that is spot on!!!
but it's good to share the love hey?
it always comes back, most you get off the toyota drivers if you have issues is some guy coming to take the **** out of you for driving a land rover ...no love there

We can "share our love" with Tojo when we pull 'em out - they hate it, we love it. :D

But for sure - the Series/Defender camaraderie is one of our great strengths.

As a new Defender owner ( about 2 months ) this is what it is all about. I've had the tossa toyos but there is something special about the little lady parked out front and something about the people that appreciate her kind. no matter how far from home I am if I see another Land Rover I know I'm amongst good friends.

p.s The missus still thinks that I know everyone I wave at ;)

We have our daughter trained now when she is driving the Disco or the fender she knows to wave:D....but she did comment today when I waved at a 130 in Beenleigh he totally ignored me:( she said maybe he didn't see us:eek:...I am always confused how anyone can miss a bright Red 130 when you also drive a defender:confused:

When we first started going out my girlfriend was amazed at how many people she thought i knew because she would always see me waving to people on the road wherever we drove! It wasn't till later that i told her that it was the Land Rover wave and i didn't actually know any of them!

I'm glad someone gives us disco drivers a wave. I've had a disco and a classic and the only wave I've ever had was in the rangie. Another one came flying up next to me, windows down, thumbs up and a smile, and he took off with the gazzilion horsepower that he had from the yank motor he had hiding in there.

Part of the reason I'll never own anything else if I have the choice. In a modern world that has to a large degree thrown away old fashioned friendliness, it's so refreshing it exists (most of the time anyway) among Defender owners - and other Land Rovers owners too (but not as much I've found). Some may label it a self-help group, but I'd say it's because most people that choose to own a Defender do so intentionally and this reflects their life values. :)

The apprentice asked how I knew so many other defender owners and freaked out when I said we wave hello and you're automatically one of the club when you drive one (old or young).
But not just us - many folk in the country areas will give you a wave too.

I drive a D1 and wave at virtually any Landy :D so If you see me, I'll be the one waving. :p

Waved at a greenish old Defender the other day, much to the owners shock I think :o but they waved back.

I think in a Disco you have to be proactive and wave first. :D
