well it seems I've been diagnosed with a condition called "central seraus retinapathy".

I have fluid built up in my left eye and everything seems Blurry unless I cover my left eye.:(

I first noticed this condition after I had a few drinks with a mate whom dropped by yesterday afternoon for a Visit. :p

This morning I had turned up for work and seemingly everything was Blurry I asked to be excused to have my eyes examined by an optometrist and then referred to an ophthalmologist for further testing which revleaed a patch of Fluid built up in the centre of the left eye. :(

I've been told it "should" go away by itself and can take anywhere between 3-6 months. :eek:I got given a few contact numbers for a retina specialists so I need to make an app to see one. He/she will then monitor the condition and if the fluid leak gets any worse , they may need to operate using laser. but I'm told that 's the last resort as it is Risky.

Holy **** that's not good:eek: Hope you will be OK soon.
This is often known as CSR. I have had a dose of this as well a few years back. In my case was a slight build up of fluid under the retina. Took me over two months to get over it. I fairly sure my eyes are unharmed although will need glasses soon for fine work but at 42 I'm OK with that. I'm unsure of the cause and so were the specialist but I have blamed weld flash etc in my case.

Mate that's no good Khoz, I hope all comes good, there's nothing worse than being unable to see properly.

One thing about it, you know what it was like through my eyes at Belanglo;)

There can be a few different factors contributing or causing it , one that I'm told is common is Stress . high stress can cause the built of Fluid under the retina.I personally know how much stress you've been under lately with the draughts and all that never ending work around the farm .:(

Clean , this Might Clarify things a bit

CSR is a fluid detachment of macula layers from their supporting tissue. This allows choroidal fluid to leak into the subretinal space. The buildup of fluid seems to occur because of small breaks in the retinal pigment epithelium.

Nothing a Berroca, a bacon, egg and brown sauce sambo and a 10km hike wouldn't have fixed.

Khos, think yourself lucky it's just a temporary problem, it may be inconvenient but even if it has slowed you down your not stopped. Could be worse, I heard of a distant acquaintance who lost his, "piston and both fuel tanks" in a strange painting accident.

Indeed Dobbo , well said , it's just an inconvinience for now , that is all.
All I see is a Hazy black spot with my left eye and hopefully this will Diminish in time and life will be back to Normal again:)

Thanks for puting a Light hearted Spin on things , I've been down last couple of days due to poor eye sight , Now I really understand how Ron ( p38arover ) felt and feels , but after reading all your comments It's actually made me pick myself up again. yes it is annoying not being able to see properly , but it could have been a lot worse , I may have completely lost my eye sight, Life goes on.

now what was the name of that "song"
"always look on the Brighter side of life".:D

Hi Khos,
Just saw this. I hope that you improve quickly (otherwise your dogs might need to be trained as "seeing eye" capable (just kidding ;)) .

On a more serious note, if there is anything that I can do, please let me know.

All the best,
Peter

Khos, you don't know me from a bar of soap but all jocularity aside, what's the long term prognosis? How long will it return to normal; months, weeks, days?: and what's your treatment? Early nights, no grog, no sunshine, no exercise, no computers, eyedrops? None of which sounds good? I've been meaning to subscribe for a while now and a pirate barrrrrbecque presents no better reason. I've always loved pirate movies from Captain Blood (Errol Flynn or Burt Lancaster - cant' remember which right through to the current crop or movies) cheers gerald

The Opthalmologist at the "Sydney Eye hospital" has told me it could talke anywhere between 3-6 months , I do need to see a Retina specialist regularly to Monitor the condition. and I'm not sure if there is a treatment just yet?
