After charging the battery, took it for a quick drive, then out to dinner with Bundalene and Andrew_e.

Oh by the way that's a Nikon D3s;) So go on admit you clicked on the camera thread without realising:p

Driving home tonight:
ISO 12,800 1/50 second f/2.8 - Not bad all things considered

ISO 102,400 1/160 second f/6.3 - Very noisy but on par with what the D200 was like at ISO 1600

The white balance needs some tweaking, but as I haven't had much of a read of the 460 page manual I have a bit to learn.

The size difference:

Yes just a tad bigger  Although not that much if I had the extended battery grip for the D200.

I think once I have got my nice lense I will start saving for a D300...

... or a D700;)

There should be an upgraded model out soon now the D3s is out.

I've set the Auto ISO on the new camera to max out at 12800 and to change on 1/125 shutter speed. My D200 I used to set to a maximum of 400 at 1/30 second.

there is no way I could save for a D700......
Not with the house and the amount of cars we run

Nice camera dm_td5, what lenses are you using with it?
Big step up from the D200.

I suspect it will mainly be my 24-70 f/2.8 that stays on the camera the most.

Congrats! Welcome to the awesome world of FX!

Did you end up chancing it from the US?

No got it Ex-Melbourne. Wouldn't have saved a lot on the USA price with duty, US/AU$ you can add 20% to their price and then there was the shipping cost as well. Also all FX now come with 2 years warranty in Australia
