My son has blown the front Uni-joint on the rear tailshaft (attaches to handbrake drum), the yoke on the short splined section of the shaft is damaged as well.
It is a Stage 1 V8 with Salisbury diff about 1980 model.
Does anyone in the ACT, Queanbeyan area have a front section of a rear tailshaft or know where in the ACT or Queanbeyan he can buy a new one.
He is stranded on the side of the road so any help would be most appreciated.
BTW are the Series III taishafts the same, Post, Email or phone 02 44744517 or 0407103320, Regards Frank.

Does he have any tools with him???

He can either:
(A) remove the rear prop, lock the CDL, and proceed on his way.
( B ) remove both rear halfshafts, cable-tie or wire the prop to the chassis, lock the CDL, and proceed on his way.

EDIT: Can the powers that be do something so that you can type ( B ) in the normal way without it becoming (B) ???

EDIT2: Option (A) is of course preferable. The handbrake drum has screws which retain it - as long as those are intact then he is fine to drive with no rear prop. If not, then the nuts or the flange which hold the prop on will need to be refitted to retain the handbrake drum.

Ben, thanks mate, trouble is his front tailshaft is on the workbench here (200klms away) after I installed new uni joints, so he was already in 2wd and now he is in No wheel drive.
Do you or anyone else know if the short splined (female end) of the front shaft will replace the broken short splined (female end) section of the rear Tailshaft, Post, Email or phone 02 44744517 or 0407103320, Regards Frank.

I am 99% sure the female splined sections are the same F/R.

I have been in that situation in the IIA - pulled the front prop to replace the unis, then broke a rear axle driving around the city...

Any ACT, Queanbeyan LRO's that can provide some info on where my Son can buy either new or second hand T/shaft, I was under the impression that there were a bunch of Capitol city dwellers, c'mon, Regards Frank.
