Great site - my first post.

Wonder if you guys can help me.

I have a 4 year old D3 SE Diesel. I have installed an aftermarket Alpine eX-10, which is a great unit - charges the iPod and also is a bluetooth hands free unit for my mobile (even stops the iPod when the phone rings).

Question. The head unit in my car has an Aux button which engages when pushed but the installers said to hook The Apine unit to it I needed at speacial landrover cable to connect "directly" in. Currently, it is hard plugged onto the FM lead plug and while this is OK it is not great (sound wise).

LR dealers in Perth do not seem to be able to source this cable - which must be existance as some D3 models have a cable that must run from the head unit to the Aux plug in the centre console (which my car does not have). Does anyone know if this cable can be sourced from LR or a third party source ?

Thanks in advance

Agree the easiest spot is in the passenger footwell.

But for decent sound at least change the front speakers.

Hey Campo

I have an ex-10 also, do have any tips/photos of your install? I'm thinking the power supply in with the stereo, the ipod in the top glove box, the mic on the a-pillar, but I'm not sure where to put the display.

Cheers

I had the ex-10 installed by the people who I brought it from - so I don't know where they sourced the power from.

What I can tell you is that the mic is installed up high on the a-pillar where the plastic meets the roof - it seems to work OK.

The iPod connection is installed in the glove box - which is good as it keeps it out of sight.

The Display is installed where on the dash above the head unit as i don't have any sat/nav unit (or anything else there). Looks OK

The unit works well and my teenage kids use it everytime they are in the car.

Thanks Campo

I'm trying to work out the best location for the display; above the head unit (I do have a GPS and I'd like to fit it there someday), below the head unit (probably hard to see and a waste of good space on the console) and maybe on the RH side of the passenger side ledge on the dash.

Everything else I'm pretty comfortable with.

Cheers
