While having a browse, I came across the following

2005 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 03MY Cars For Sale in VIC - carsales.com.au - carsales.com.au (http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details.aspx?R=7833747&__sid=123F2476661D&__Qpb=true&Cr=8&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32 |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201247%201282%201252%201246%204294965541% 204294964692&seot=1&__No=15&__Nne=15&trecs=80&silo=1011)

Have the following questions

Was the third row of seats ever a factory option (I doubt it)
Who can fit these/engineer?
How much?

Personally, even though the one in the link looks very clean, I cant really afford it - budget is around the 20k mark (so obviously a nice Puma is out of the question)

The Defender would be my weekend play toy, and for camping with the family (hence the seven seats) If I cant find a nice defer, then the next option is to get SWMBO a D2a. The budget is higher for her car (she wont drive a Defender)

thanks

(itching to get back into a LR)

Third row seats didn't come as an option until Puma Defender came out a couple of years ago.

Exmoor Trim in UK do third row seats for Defenders. Mobility Engineering in Hornsby NSW do third row seats for a whole range of vehicles. I don' think they have something specific for a Defender, but one of the generic seats might do the job.

That vehicle is at Ritters. It would be at the top of the price range but from what I have seen they wont sell a bad or illegal conversion. Maybe you could call them and ask about the extra seat fitted.

Looks like generic "van" seating. I've seen a fair few 9 seater Defenders with two sideways wheel arch seats - uprated versions of the Series/County rear seats.

What I really like about that Defender is the rear A/C.

wow, never seen a third row of seats like that before.

But I've seen a headlining like that before.
