Hi there, I've got a problem with the stacker. When you turn a corner or go over a small speed hump it stops. It also occasionally skips at the lights! Is this a common fault? How can this be fixed? Can you install a new stacker to replace it?
Thanks Mick.

asssuming it's the stock Clarion unit?
Might just be that it needs a good clean inside or the shock mounts are going/gone. There's a thread around here somewhere where one was taken apart and renewed. Search is your friend... maybe check out rangerovers.net too.
On my last P38A I found a replacement Clarion stacker that had a c-bus connector and it worked just fine. Then I got sick of the limited music selection (5-6 CD's) and replaced the head unit with a DVD-data/MP3/iPod unit and threw out the stacker. They're pretty cheap now and fit easily.
I've currently got a Kenwood (not cheap) but would recommend JVC for a good mid-range unit.
Cheers, Paul.

You'll find a step by step guide to reparing your 6 stacker CD player here:
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/p38a-range-rover/92121-how-repair-your-alpine-cd-multiplayer-range-rover-p38.html
It works a treat, and I doesn't skip, jump or stop at all now.
I'd actually argue against changing the head unit, as modern units never look quite "right" in a well maintained rangie...

Has your car got the Alpine or the Clarion? Clarion were used in early (up to '98?) models.
