Hi Guys, just installed a Mitchell Bros tow Hitch on my 09 D3 TDV6 SE, all went OK, but it seems to set off the reverse parking sensors, when in reverse gear. ??. assume because of the tow hitch protruding, the inner 2 sensors pick up the outer edge of the hitch.
has anyone else had this problem & can u adjust the sensors or do I have to disable the inner 2 sensors. ????
thanks Tom

Good question, now in the FAQ under towing

There was a bit missing from the link... above should work! (Or not... when it is clicked, it seems to remove the "d3-d4-zone (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/93220-aulro-discovery-3-4-rrs-faq.html)" part of it??)

Hi Forumites,
Does anyone know what angle the beams come out at? I've put a dual wheel carrier on and I have the same problem, if I knew what the angle was I could make a template to make sure the sensors don't impact on the carrier. Intrestingly enough when I had the tow hitch (treg) on (pre wheel carrier installation) if I left the pin out the sensors didn't go off, as soon as I put the pin back in the sensors went off, found this really weird seeing I assumed the beams came out in a cone shape. Like the person above and info greatfull accepted.

Hi All,

The sensors are oval and funnel shaped, the sensors need to be rotated by approximately 45 degrees to clear he tow hitch, funny enough, this doesnt present as a problem on all vehicles.

Those with Kaymar rear bars or 4x4 Intelligence tyre swings may have more difficulties aligning the sensors so they do not pick up the hitch.

Anyone having further difficulties, feel free to call or email for further assistance.

Happy modding.

Hi Aaron,
Likewise thanks for the info, loking from the back of the bumper which axis does the centre line of the widest part of the cone run along? I'm not sure if I've described this to well, just looking at the back of the sensor the Kaymar bar has two settings I'm just wondering if I've got the sensor on the right setting tab. I know I could just change them around but it's a bit painful now getting the wiring off and moving the sensors if you know what I mean. If I don't have to take them out because they are as good as I'll get them I'll have to go to plan B whatever that is. Thanks for the reponse.

Hi People,

http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-zone/78846-mitchell-bros-hitch-reverse-sensors.html

This thread refers to the cheap and cheerful solution I used when I fitted my hitch. I have a black bumper so colour matching was not an issue. Has been working fine for me!

Cheers
Steve.
