A friend rang me yesterday to say he had something that may interest me. It turned out to be a 1975 S3 used to pick up gold from mines in the Kalgoorlie area. The Landrover dealer of the time also had a security business. I don't know what it weighs but its not light.

now that would be fascinating to see. Is it a locally made unit, or a shorland?

Hi Richard, locally made unfortunately, wish it was a shorland. Pics about to be posted. The vehicle is 2.25, aircond, air shocks, 94000 k's and strait as with very minimal rust that I can see. It needs a good clean though.

Some pics of it. I will take more detailed ones later

Looks like a rather unique vehicle!

Anybody runs into it will know they've hit something. I will see if there's any history of it. Everything works, even the reversing lights and the engine runs like a dream, just leaks water at the moment. Probably a perished hose.

Very interesting! Odd perhaps that the cabin appears unarmoured. Buy it!

By the way - Next time you are there, pay particular attention to that LWB next to it in the front on Pic... And get chassis numbers. ;)

EDIT: I just noticed your sig... I didn't realise you had it home already. Disregard!

The roof and behind the doors are armoured but not the rest unless the doors and windscreen have been replaced. Kind of makes it pointless if the driver isn't protected. The vehicle is at home but I don't intend keeping it unless Ineed to be protected from SWMBO

Haven't seen the Game although Harlen Mullens (not sure of the spelling) dealer had one years ago not far from where I live. Could be the same one. I had a look under and through the Gold safe LR and I'm very surprised in how good the condition is. Very little rust anywhere, mostly surface.

You could always head up to the museum to see if they have any pics/info - miners hall of fame or the one beneath the headframe - since they do have a gold room there.....
