this has just been sold to me for list price $275, actual price $200, and I was told it was genuine. The LR part number is MHK100620, but I know VDO do supply OEM equipment, so am hoping that includes MAFs to LR!

Also, I presume I need to get fault codes cleared to get full benefit from a new MAF? I have seen some people saying that they got an instant effect on fitting, but my improvement was relatively modest, so I suspect the MAF isn't the main reason behind my inability to rev freely beyond 2500rpm. Unfortunately most other possible problems have been eliminated and LR mechanics can't find anything wrong: fuel pressure fine, no air leaks, new looms, turbo boost modulator replaced...and now MAF replaced... Think I'm just going to have to accept life below 2500rpm...at least I get good economy this way...

The one on my car and the spare are Siemens.

I am not sure if VDO are an official supplier.

I think you will find a MAF fault will not show up as a fault as such, unless it has a dead short or similar.
What a faulty MAF will do is give the ECU wrong information,IE tell lies. The ECU acts on information supplied leading to the poor performance.
GOODLUCK

thanks Andrew - suspect this is the case. She's running a bit better with the new MAF (VDO and Siemens are the same company, so have confirmed that it is a genuine LR part), but I suspect that the issue might be a loose or dirty connection as sometimes (only a few times every week) I'm able to get full power - no surging, revs freely. It's not the hoses as I've checked those. Hopefully I can finally find the problem as the potential is impressive with the upgraded chip, and it would be nice to have that kind of acceleration all the time!
