Got me buggered why people don't diesel these things and fit coils once the ECU's are fried.:D Must be heaps of water damaged wrecked P38's out there as insurance companies usually write them off.

It isn't an easy conversion. The car is too integrated in its electronics.

Yep thats Ralph, and yep he likes his shorts. :p
To dispel some of the musings on that forum:
He didn't open the door - after 10-15 minutes in the water it slowly seeped in enough to get to the ECU.
I don't think the damage bill was expensive - the ECU was dried out and checked on site, and reinstalled with no ill effects. 2 days later it was at the club meeting, still covered in muck.
Ralph IS smiling - he's always smiling! :lol2:
PS - apparently after recovering the P38a, a Patrol thought he would try and show the Landies how it was done. After taking a good gulp of water and the owner repeatedly trying to restart it (against all advice) the motor is no more...

Those damn electronics, always letting cars down. Good thing the patrols don't have any. :lol2::lol2:

you were close razza ,did wade in but walking pace should have gave it but did made it 3/4 of way ,than got stopped weelspining away on my road tyres ,than i reversed and half way back got hung up which pic shows ,i was scared to give it as it would have splashed water in the air cleaner ,which water did get in but only on the bottom of air cleaner houseing missing paper up top (lucky).nissan patrol gave it and water went in his air cleaner than in his diesel motor destroying it .the disco 2 had height ,mud tyres but most inportantly snorkel ,thats why didnt stop him giveing it and makeing it all the way .ps what size and type tyres were you running ????????, i dont think you had 65 ratio road tyres like me if you got out .
