Hi,
Please see the pic. There is nothing connected to this green corroded sensor, but I would like to know what it was or is supposed to be. It looks redundant. Can I take it out and plug the hole?
Many thanks

Pretty sure that's the temp sender (long time since I had a V8).

Thats the autochoke switch for the carbs. Not really nesscary but helpful if you have cold start/idle issues

i think it is a temperature switch for air con, did/ does your car have air con ?

That is, as already stated, the sensor for the warning circuit to tell you to turn the choke OFF by illuminating the orange cold start/choke lamp when the engine is warmed up a little.

My series III also has the same and illuminates the orange light in the dash if the choke is still out when the engine gets warm

Thanks for the responses. I have a manual choke, (and the light stays on after I push it in!!...this is another issue as there is nothing connected to the sensor we are talking about), and I do have an air conditioning system which does not blow cold air.
I can now investigate the suggestions you have given me so thanks again.

One less job to do now...thanks..:)

Thought my dash light was faulty as the choke light only came on once the motor started to warm up - kinda thought that it would come on when the choke was on.....

Have a great new guys, bye for now.
