Hi all,
Festive season is upon us and most have broken up from work it appears.
Today I had a five hour round trip in 40 deg heat to chair an AGM for a fishing organisation in my POS without aircon.
Got back and had a couple of quick pots at the local, the work breakup boys gave me another couple, and I left (rather than kicking on as they were insisting).
To cut a long story short I was pinged for .05 200 metres from my house and will be without a licence for 6 months.
Sure I've had a crap couple of years and am stressed out (all the excuses in the world), but I really have no excuse before the law.
Hoping this might do me some good somehow.
cheers, DL

200 mts is a bit of bad luck, but as you say they don't accept excuses.
Gives you 6 mos to get the air con fixed;)
Cheers

6 months is a bit much for 4 pots.
Did you forget to mention some drinks - or is it 6 months for >5 to 1.0 ??
I thought it started with 3 months

It was 4 or 5, but real quick. I just wanted to get home, it was a long day.
Just shouldn't have done it, simple as that.

The roadside breath test is used to detect alcohol and if its reading is high enough its off for a ride down to the cop shop and onto the more accurate machine or a blood test should they desire.
Rotten luck indeed but if your'e gonna get done than this is the time of the year it will happen.

good on ya for posting up on the forum, not many would
just yesterday i was at a contractors xmas party, i had 3 beers over two hours and was pretty sure i would not be over the limit..........i will never know as i was not pulled over and tested but in short its impossible to manage your BAC while drinking and expect to be under. my dad went DUI years ago and will not start a car even after just one sip of beer these days....would hate to think how many times i have hovered around 0.05 while managing a few drinks and driving home
i worry more the day after a big session....when can you jump in the car.... i.e drinking to the early hours of the morning

Good on you for putting your hand up and admitting a mistake.
I got done for excess .05 and reckless here in WA when i was 19, now at 29 i have only just been able to get my special excess ($1500) removed from my insurance.
I love to drive my cars and loooooooove(:D) a beer or three but if i drive i don't drink, if i drink i don't drive.
Its not worth the risk. I know i couldn't live with myself if i had a couple of beers and had and accident and hurt somebody i cared about

It is a lesson I wanted to share because I wasn't doing anything outrageous, just did something stupid that carries a big penalty.
Take a bit more care than I did.

some of the silly laws.....I can drive to work at .04 but I cant start work.....we have zero tolerance.....guess the law isnt really silly but if workplace health and safety are instituting zero tolerance on work sites its crazy that the road laws can still allow you to drive to work

Well...........
As a follow up to this thread, today I had my day (5 mins) in court and I have my licence back. The amount of financial and emotional grief that this episode has caused has been substantial. I am lucky that I am better off to cope than most.
All I really want to say is don't take ANYTHING for granted, stick to your duty of care for others at all times and I hope my POS will start tomorrow.
cheers, DL

Hi Digger,
Took the aircon out when I put the 81 body on 74 chassis. Didn't work anyway. In the original post I said it was 5 hours but that's wrong because it was at least 600 km round trip so would be more like 7.
Learnt at drunky school that that sort of dehydration causes similar loss of judgement etc as consuming alcohol. Will be much more careful in future.
cheers, DL
