Shocks are all about traction. You can have a good ride and not a lot of traction or a stiff ride and a lot of traction. Coil springs need stiffer dampers than those used with leaf springs because leafs do much of the damping through interleaf friction.

BTW, those shocks are bloody long.

this may help.
eshocks.com: Bilstein Off-Road Shock Guide (http://www.eshocks.com/bil_ORgd.asp?Manf=All)

also what are your spring rates and there free heights
what are the front and rear split weights, ie, how much dose the front end weigh and same for the rear.

my 90 was heavier in the front than the rear by 80kg and the ute is the same.

cheers phil

Thanks I will have a look at that.

The rear is still std spring. ( a little stiff)

as the tray has been lifted 4" in preparation for exhaust and shock mounts. I Would like to get a set softer springs which give the same ride height. It would look stupid with anything higher, it sits level with 60mm lift in the front.

But I can not find any......

My guess is the front would be a fair bit heavier then rear as it only has an alloy tray, especially when she comes home soon with the EXO CAGE:D....... I think my front springs may be too soft:bangin:.

1.BE5-6250-H5

1.BE5-6250-H5 valved 255/70

2.BE5-6250-T5 valved 298/36

3.BE5-6250-T7 valved 270/50

I'm assuming here its a Defender or county ute? I'd probably look at BE5-6250-T7 or BE5-6250-T5 for the rear - the T7 will ride a bit stiffer but provide more bump stiffness. BE5-6250-H5 for the front as a guess.
