After reading http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-2/95589-sport-manual-lamp-problem.html and not wanting to steal that tread I'm asking for input for a slightly different problem.
After my small swim and rebuild all has been going well till now.
I have lost my LCD display for the auto and the "M&S"lights don't apear either.
I noticed the other day my "Mode" button wont work either although the auto runs fine, all gears and locking up as normal.
History..(latest to oldest)
Cheacked all earth points today(3 near batt.,1 L/H footwell,1R/H also,1 behind L/H foot rest,1 on steering colum)and fuses.
Also checked the drain hoses and no obvios sign of leaking water on the switch.
@12/12 I had the red high auto temp light on for 5sec. only, first time (while off roading doing a long pull in high at slow speed)and not since.
Bought a compleate key (18/12) and had it "coded" to car, now SHMBO got this done for me so...
....Wed all well,
....Thu goes to 1st place and later key wouldn't read to my99(1 hour),
....Fri goes to 2nd place and all done with the early key in 15mins.(Also adjusted to one push all doors).
...Sat no auto dash lights(never checked mode switch)[Is this adjustable on the lap tops used?].
June/July had that swim and as a result I had silty water in the ACU, this was washed out and sprayed at least 5 times with contact spray.I moved it's location but can't remember if there is an earth wire under the console.(any one?)
Auto fluid was changed just after the motor had the new chain fitted.
Sorry for the long post but just arming all with as much info. as I can.
Any advice appreciated, thanks for your time.

Kyle,
Most likely the instrument pack is failing, if you have access to a Rovacom or similar,( not sure if Nanocom will do this?) you can force each lamp on and off to check the IP.

Thanks JC,
Would that stop the mode button working also?
Mine doesn't get "sport" mode in high, or "manual" in low range.
Whats the symptoms off low oil level? Just a 2nd thought.

Ah, not really:( Remove the shifter housing surround by just pulling it up, and check that the multiplug is secure. When the IP is failing, you just start to loose lamps etc, all the items still seem to work though. If you aren't actually getting sport mode etc, then keep looking. Not certain if there is a fuse to the trans /shifter illumination/ controls, haven't had to track a fault like this yet. I'll take a look at RAVE Monday when I'm back at work, have you got a RAVE disc?

Might pull the console out and have a good lock under there.
I'll recheck the plugs ect.(Lights on shifter seem to be OK though).
Checked my copy of RAVE today to locate all the earth points( must check for one under console,3 in cenrtre of car I thought were roof hight;)).
Traced all 3 fuses used(12,24,25) but checked them all.
Fingers crossed it's not ACU eh.
Thanks again.

If you have been using a Nanocom or similar to change D2 BCU settings check that the transmission type is still set to Auto. Having changed one setting (specifically the key-in alert) with my Nanocom and then done a write and then a read I have noticed (occasionally) on my TD5 auto that the engine changed to "petrol" and the transmission changed to "manual", some of the alarm settings also changed. Before changing any BCU settings always do a read and save the current settings, after a write always do a read and cross check all settings.
I suspect that occasionally there is a data transmission error during the write procedure and some parameters are set to their default values.

Not sure what system was used as SHMBO took it.
Have to go to one of these places to by my viscios so might get them to check it while I'm there.
Thanks.

All fixed:D
Thanks to gazk for the idea and Franz for his time and patience today :BigThumb:
The beast had reverted to petrol/manual instead of diesel/auto.
Strange thing was it did it a few times on us today.
Lights all working, mode working, holding top gear better, and noticed electric cooling fan not on all the time now.
Didn't know how many things get looked at:confused:
Whats "Bathrobe mode"? "Fuel heater" not in Aus?
