Hi Guys
Ever since injuring my back at work I havent been able to cast that far.
A while back,I watched a talk at the Boat show by Mike Rodenfelt on surf fishing.Part of his talk was about Impact Clips,a small plastic clip that enables you to clip the sinker to the bait to make the rig more areodynamic,Mike gauranteed you would gain at least 20m more distance without changing anything.
Ive visited many tackle shops and not been able to buy any Imp Clips so I started Googling.
With more luck than I imagined I got onto Chas Riegert who distrubutes the Breakaway tackle.I asked could Chas do a mail order and I got better.Chas rang me and offered to not only deliver the clips but to help me out with my casting.Chas came down today showed me the Imp clips and a thumb clip, changed the braid over on my old Shakespear Sigma080,gave it a quick service then showed me a new casting method.Im now easily casting almost double my distance with ease and not putting pressure on my back.Im rapt!!!!!
Chas is a keen competition caster and showed me some of his comp gear,WOW:eek::eek::eek:,we went down to the footy oval and had a few casts,he was casting from goal to goal with mono and 125gm.
Im off to Albany wednesday to try my newly learnt skills and try the "Pulley" rig that Chas showed me.
For those interested in Breakaway tackle,Chas and his Partner have a website, Tackle for the Discerning Angler (http://www.anglerman.com.au/index.html) There is a range of products there that are popular overseas but not well known in Australia.Chas looks after WA,Graham is based in Victoria.
If anybody is interested in casting and wishes to improve their casting,or even compete there is a link to The Australian Surfcasting Federation.
Will let you know how the fishing goes.

After 5 days fishing I can say the thumb release is good,no more line cuts if a cast goes wrong.
The Imp clips are good, especialy with soft mulies(sardines),didnt have any baits departing on the cast.
Worth looking at.
