Hi All
The carpooter on my brother in-law’s D3 has gone imperial….. measuring range, distance travelled and average speed (everything except fuel consumption) in imperial units.
He has tried the fix mentioned in the manual, and no joy……
Any ideas?

I came across one like this when I was working in a Dealer. IIRC it required a instrument cluster replacement...

There is a lot of user selectable stuff if you have the steering wheel audio controls (hi end radio). Some of it is the display units.

Just the bog standard one....... so it is looking like a replacement.....

I wasn't around when he tried it so couldn't tell you for sure, but i think it is a sequence of buttons here and there (steering wheel etc). I presume it is a feature that allows you to choose imperial or metric units for the computer......

I wish it was a typo , but ............
There is no reason to "have to" change anything you know .
The dials are the same as before , as is the consumption.
It's only the bl**dy central trip/empty dist and temp . Who cares ?
I like Fahrenheit .......... fifty something doesn't sound
as cold as low teens centigrade ;)

If it were my D3..... for the sake of $3500 I would be getting used to imperial units........ :) I fancy my Brother in-law will be doing the same for that money

Even if it is "just" out of warranty, I would be approaching a dealer & seeing what they say.
Failing that, the options are limited:
Get one from a wreckers :(
or
Get used to it...

Agree, I have heard of other people getting major items replaced by LR when "just out of warranty", so definitely worth a go.

Early on, it was a cluster replacement job but I believe it's a download repair now.
Check with your friendly dealer.

LTB00159 covers D3s with lowline radios & no steering wheel switches if that helps.

I had the wheel buttons installed and use a BlueAnt BlueTooth (with call-
announcement AUS129  ) which I transfer between vehicles and
also Rentals too .

May I also recommend the BlueAnt, and in particular the S1. What makes this one different is that it can connect to 2 mobiles simultaneously (eg both my mobile and my wife's mobile) with the last one connected being the "primary" - the default one for which the keys on the unit directly control (You can swap which one is primary by holding down a button). The technology is called bluetooth multi-point technology.
This differs from most others which can only connect to one at a time, and if more than one in it's memorised list is present, it only connects to the most recent one.
Eg my wife uses the car most weekdays, but when I am driving on the weekend (with her there or not) and a call comes in for either of us, the unit will still function and I can answer. Another application is if you have a personal mobile and a work mobile in the car at the same time.
I picked mine up a year ago off eBay for around $AUD90. I notice the same unit is now available in Dick Smith.

Definately ask the dealer to put a claim into LR. According to the ACCC you have a reasonable expectation for the instrament cluster to last more than just over three years. Foe that money i would be fighting it and if you have to pay put in a claim to the small claims court.
