You have done well, this sort of thing is getting less & less these days:(
One of the guys in a Govt. dept we do some work for clocks up 50yrs later this month.
As for the long service .....comes up every 10yrs in most occupations, but was every 15 yrs before i think the year 2000,when the rules were changed. So if you have some due before 2000,there is a formular to use to calculate the yrs of service before long service is due.

Yeah , I picked up 3 months of LSL when I reached my 10 years of service and from there on for every year of service I've accrued 2 weeks.

Not sure about the rule change Scarry , I was told when I started I would recieve 3 months when I hit 10 years of service , but in any case since I started I've only taken one month off:eek:

Would have had 20 years up next year if I had not been made redundant. It is nice to have a secure job and well done, but it can also be shattered in a moment when a company takes a different direction.
Enough of that and again well done, hope they make you feel appreciated.

Yep, a quarter of a century and nothing but a head full of bad memories and a watch ...

When I first started my Employement , I would have never thought that I'd actually be employed in the same company for as long as I have been.
I had just completed my high school certificate and started a TAFE electronic diploma course the following year , a Job opportunity arose and I grabbed it with both hands.
During my traineeship period ,I continued my studies @ TAFE , attended classes for 4 years @ Nights to complete my Diploma course and it all finally eventuated .
I was a qualified technical officer . I can Tell you this does a lot of good for a young bloke's self esteem , straight out of school and not knowing much about life in general.

Same here.
At our Christmas breakup the Chairman of the company informed me that there will be a celebration of the 30 years I have been with them. Started my apprenticeship there and have continued on.
I have seen many changes in the printing industry since that first day. Most likely one of the reasons why I have stayed for so long.

I reckon 30 years of service is another Milestone , well done , I'm only assuming that you'd be staying there till retirement.:D

Congratulations Khos.
Guess the longest in anything like that I've had is being a uni student, which I think is now up to six years in a row.
My dad started as a lecturer at Sydney uni in 1963. He retired about ten years ago, although you wouldn't know the difference, he still shares an office at the uni and goes in to work most days. This impresses me no end, he literally loves it so much he does it even if he doesn't get paid. Lucky bugger.

Paul,
You actually should reward yourself. You are no different, just you have to arrange it and accommodate it. Go on reward yourself with a night out and a pressie.
Got my 15yr at Ravy finally, even though it was actually closer to 18 years. Really nice silver service dinner and a $750 gift card. Shame I did not make the 20 for the $1000 gift card.

Good luck to you, Disco_Owner. There was not one of my private sector employers I would have felt like staying with for long service. The only reason I stayed in the public service for 8 years was 12% unemployment and I was over 50.
Most of the long serving staff at a couple of places were people who would not leave because they well knew they would never find another job, or another job where they did so little.
