Hi Guys
Ive just returned from 5 days with Deb and Lindsay down at Albany.
Wish I could say we caught heaps of fish, but we didnt. The fish just wernt interested, tried several beaches and deep water off the rocks.Tried all sorts of rigs, nobody was hungry.
Only managed some small Herring that were kept for the cat or bait on an upcoming boat trip.
Weather was pretty good, wind was up on a few days but with a pick of fishing spots it wasnt an issue.
Enjoyed relaxing by the ocean and soaking up the view, mainly fished Two Peoples Bay for those that know Albany.
Did see 3 or 4 small Salmon caught over the 5 days, were all single catches,no signs of a school.
There seemed to be a plague of very small skipjack in all places tried, less than 5" long that were hellbent on striping bait and occasionally foul hooking themselves.Should be good in 18 months or so when they grow into a legal size.No sign of any whiting or king george whiting:mad::mad::mad:
My casting has improved heaps,75m is now easy,100m+ when I get it right.
It was a great relaxing time,BlackBetty behaved impeccably, shame about having to go back to work tommorow:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Well I fared marginally better this morning off Arrawarra. Originally started trolling for macks, but after finding some good shows of fish, managed a couple of pearlies to 55cm and a squire. All on softies. Had usual bycatch of bonnies and red rock cod.
Great morning on the water though.

i think beach fishing from the metro area to esperence is pretty much dead and a thing of our history books

Certainly a lot harder to get a feed than 20 years ago.
The 2 young blokes from work are from Albany, they were down there for 3 weeks over Xmas.A few herring is all they got too.

same issue at Kalbarri... each night on each beach there would be about 40+ anglers... its not like the fish stood much chance... only saw one small fish taken too... so it wasnt just us!

Thanks

Steve

We were up at lucky bay sandlewood bay north of pt gregory and between 6 of us we caught some big tailor some Mulloway and some small dart that we threw back all the fish was of legal size plus!
I havent had fishing like that in about 15 years enjoyed it immensely ...actually got sore arms from winding them in... all this at 11.00am till 1.30pm.
went back 2 days later same spot and got some more.
there is nothing like fresh tailor dipped in flour and water and Morrocon spice pan fried in butter, that and the crayfish and the smoked spanish mackeral we were given to eat. It was very nice and very yummy.
