A visit from a couple of un desireables

Just had a visit from those two ol boys, the M&S lights.

It went into limp mode after leaving the servo tonight, so when I got home, I turned it off, locked the car, went back a bit later and they had gone.

Whilst they were there though, the car would start no worries, in P and N, but still go into limp mode.
The last time it happened, it wouldnt start in P, had to jiggle it in N to get it to go.

So I am thinking,

A, with the hot weather and the air con going, has it drained onto the selector and caused mischief.

OR

B, I have had oil in the loom for a while, and I clean it often, but would this cause the fault.

OR

C, Would a faulty MAF be a candidate??

I have checked the main earth lead to the battery and it appears to be tight on the body and battery.

Any thoughts ?

More than likely from what you have described a faulty TX switch.

I checked a few things first, after your recommendations from an older thread that I searched, eg the earth points.

They dont last really long do they, the one in it now is only 2 1/2 yrs old, and I dont use the air much at all, rather have the window down. Will see what it does tomorrow and get it booked in.
How far can you drive in limp mode, my mechanic is about 45 mins away.

Generaly AC will work better if used often. Keeps pump and seals lubricated.

WHEN!!! you get the new switch installed ---put a couple of extensions on your A/C drains and tie them out of the way of the TX unit[I cable tied mine to the auto oil lines] no more probs
