Hey all.

Finally got me a clean Td5 Defender 130... Road trip from Brizzy to Adelaide last weekend! Ok, it seems/sounds like it's sloggong its guts out at 110kmh. When in the Uk I ran a 200 Tdi 110 with Disco transfer gears and it worked well. Will it work as well on the Td5? Love to hear your thoughts.. Thanks.

Yes, with standard 7.50/16's and a chip upgrade it'll be fine on the highway, a bit of a dog towing from start especially uphill, but otherwise a good idea. Standard tyres are the way to go or you will have gearing issues from start and in traffic. Auto trans would fix that though...

No worries. It's on 235 85 16's from memory which I think are about the same size as 750's. Disco transfer gears a hunting we shall go!

I recently drove a chipped td5 130 DC up to the NT towing an empty trailer. It had 1.2 transfer gears, And i wish it didnt. At 110kph in 5th gear the turbo hasnt got enough boost to keep it going up a hill, and if you have a headwind your stuffed. You have to keep downchanging to 4th and this stuffs up your economy.

Dont do it.
