Spotted a 1951 80" in town the other day .. its a everyday use car .... the owner lives locally , fitted with a series 3 2 and 1/4 motor . He's done the rear axle half shaft conversion to run later half shafts ..he made up spacers ( approx. 1" thick ) to fit them in the 80" housing .
Will take pics when I see it again.

Not only later half shafts, but converted to full floating. The spacers can be made from drive flanges by turning off the protruding bit and boring to go over the axle shaft.

Hi there Mike,
I live near Taree, in nsw. There is a series one 1952 same as my one, used every day and on full rego, in Taree.
It is owned by one of the owners of Taree Auto Electrics.
The outside is restored, but the engine bay etc is original condition.
He has ingeniously made a screw on oil filter conversion to the engine. I am looking at doing the same thing to my vehicle, when I can find out about the parts needed and what is involved. I think that it would make interesting reading for the many S1's on this site?
I will try to take some pics of it ,if he allows me to and post them up, just for interest!

You can buy the screw on oil filter adaptor on ebay. Not sure who it is that advertises them though.
