Proud Happy D2 owner again finally

Hello all, After a little longer than expected wait I have my second D2 (sold the 1st)

It is a 2000 TD5 Auto base model.

The wait was due to it not being through the workshop before I bought it. It now has a new tappet cover gasket and R) swivel hub due to both leaking.

Picked it up last Thursday and I was in heaven. I posted a question about noise and vibration through the auto when power on, it was a lot better and I am convinced that it was the hand brake adjusted too tight (I hope) I specifically asked them to let it off when I bought it I think it may still be a bit too tight.

Last saturday lunch time I lost power when driving. I managed to gat it home and back to the dealer on the Monday. They test drove it for a very short time and it lost all power and went on a tilt tray to the local ARB workshop as the are the only guys in town with the computer software. new fuel pump later all is good.

I was not sure what was wrong but the symptoms did not point to that. I will surly be investing in a nanocomm (I think that is spelt right) soon as it will save me a lot of money.

I know it doesn't happen without pics so will post them tonight.

I am hearing you I only took it to the dealer as it is still under the 3 month MTA used car warranty

After I bought my Disco, the Dealer closed down and left town. True:o
Dont think I would have let them touch it anyway.

The van on the back is the reason for the purchase and went on 1st tow test on Saturday. All went well until I tried to see how well it would stop. I now have the ABS, TC, HD warning light eluminated on teh dash.

Hi Banjo,

Towing the van would have worked out the ABS modulator & triggered the dreaded 3 amigos http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-2/96594-amigos-me.html . The shuttle valve switches were probably sus anyway & any heavy braking really tries them out. Read the link & check out the pics on how to replace SVS assy and shuttle valve seals http://www.aulro.com/afvb/electronic-diagnostics/95891-replacing-shuttle-valve-switches-need-nanocom.html. If vehicle is still under dealer warranty insist that they repair modulator under warranty. If they only reset the diagnostics (ask for repair report) make sure you test vehicle with van under heavy breaking, or take vehicle off road & give ABS, TC & HDC a thouough workout.
If the shuttle valves (or internal connection out to connector) are faulty then this workout should trigger the 3 amigos again. You can also perform the shuttle valve switch circuit test outlined in post.

I will defiantly be getting the report from the computer and insisting that they look at the modulator, Thanks heaps it is booked in on Thursday.

It looks pretty straight forward and I would do it myself if it was not under warranty.
