Hey Jim, I think it was a choice between being skint and cold in the uk or being skint and hot in oz :D
Seriously, we'd come to a point where we needed a new challenge so we thought about a 4x4 motel in Wales or Australia if we could get visas. Two years later we got permanent visas  and the rest is history.

I've decided not to fit the 300 tdi into the dormobile as I don't want to alter the chassis / engine mounts, but instead I've done a deal and part exchanged it for a defender 200 tdi lump + a few $$$ :)
This means that I can drop it straight in onto original mounts and if I don't like it I can put the holden motor back in. My problem is that I love the quietness and sound of the 186 but don't like the economy.
Seems like I'm back to the drawing board

It works well with the 3.54 diffs and overdrive, but runs out of puff up hills :D Maybe it needs triple carbs and a few other mods

253 is old school. Better off with a Commodore v6 nowadays. Easier to get parts, more hp etc. Downsides include need emission gear to match engine, fuel injected so need swill pot and two fuel pumps ( low and high pressure), electronic control do harness required. v6 conversions in Moree has wiring kits Etc

Yeah we're thinking of throwing a 5ltr efi in it. Only need to drill the back to suit the 253 & I'm puting a full new painless wiring harness in it aswell. The emissions are pretty easy it's more the electricals.

Hey jerry you can buy an efi kit for the holden 6. I just can't remember where it was. Can also fit the black efi to the blue easy enough but there 202s. I was going to change the green one to efi before I sold it just never got the bits together.
I am thinking if I use the 253 in Harry & don't put the 5 ltr in it I mite make the 253 efi as I've seen it done.

What tyre profile are you running?
Stock diffs and a tyre profile that brings the gearing up (700), but not as high as 3.54's and then you still have it pulling the overdrive comfortably.
A blue motor EFI cam or a Crow towing cam will help in that low to mid rev range too.
Cheers, Mick.

Are you employed as a casual, Ian??? On casual rates it is really worthwhile, for example at our depot, Christmas Day penalty rates are two and a half times normal rate. For a casual on say $31 an hour, makes for a good day paywise.
As a permanent ( like me) it is not quite as attractive, why work Christmas Day when you are paid anyway. As a permanent you still get two and a half times normal rate, but as you are paid anyway it reduces the amount to one and a half times normal rate.
I'd rather spend Christmas Day with my family.:D:D
One of the bosses at the depot queried why not many permanents volunteered to work on public holidays until the shift supervisor brought him up to speed. Permanents, being on a lower hourly rate cost less for the company to run on overtime.
p.s. Just re-read your post, 13 hours!!!! How did you get around fatigue management????

BFM allows up to 14 hours, but I could still do it on standard hours, Jim. I only drove 150 kilometres in that time. When loading I get to play Sudoku for 20 minutes, unloading is even better......half an hour. I did half a dozen trips for the day so I can legitimately show four and a half hours of rest in the 13 hour spread, plus my half hour lunch break. Yes I'm still casual but our hourly rate is considerably more than $31. :D With meal allowances I was just shy of a grand for the day. S'pose the taxman will snavel 49c out of every buck. :(

G'day everyone. Where all ok & doing wellish here. Karen's lumps are just sists & should settle on there own. I've been doing some bushcraft carving. Carving spoons. I also spent the night on satdy out under a hootchie tarp with mozzy netting. I enjoyed it heaps. Though I did get a bit cold as I only used a wool blanket & should of used my summer sleeping bag. Karen didn't sleep well at all that night. She said when she finally got up. That's it no more sleeping out. Musta missed me in the bed. She is still having lots of trouble sleeping with all her medications. It's giving me the ****s these doctors. They can't say what the problem is with Karen's kidneys or her liver so they said we just put it in the autoimmune syndrome for now. We didn't do anything for Xmas. Mum & graham called in for an hour that was it. We have finally found a paint suplier who can get in the primer I've been using since I ran out. My fault intierly as I had the pressure on the gun way to high. I set it at what I thought was right but it's a new regulator & has a different reading system. So lost heaps to over spray. I can only just read the new gauge it's so small. Sorted now so know for next time.

Hi everyone. How are use all hope all had a great long weekend. We're all still here & going ok. Karen had to have another blood text on Friday her feet & anckles swelled up like balloons. The doc said it could be any number of things from her kidneys to the heat. So got a blood tests. We think it's the kidneys again though. Starting to get realy sic of the doctors where karen is concerned. They have put her symptoms in the auto immune syndrome as they can't find what's causeing all this trouble. They just give her a new tablet & say take these see if these help with anything. She still can't sleep of a night so sleeps in late on weekends and maybe still needs a sleep in the afternoon. Through the week she sleeps upto 3 hours of an afternoon depends on what she's been doing. It just worries me as she's had a couple of falls now.

Well I had a campout in the yard a couple of weeks ago . I was given a hootchie tarp with mozzy net so tried it out . Was great had a good sleep till 5.30 when the wind picked up & pushed the rain in on me . need to set sides lower in rainy conditions. Ive been made part of the admin on a group Australian bushcraft & am enjoying it. I have been trading bits & pieces on the trading part of that group so have myself a new backpack .So am spending this afternoon packing it & repacking it till its what I want & comfortable on my back..I just need to get a poncho now so I can use it as a ground sheet aswell that way I don't need to carry the ground sheet & it..

Well it seems we're back to scratch with Karen's health. She had to have another blood test last week. We got the results this afternoon. Now we have to go back to the specialist again. Her kidneys are still not good but are ok. But her liver is getting worse. Plus karen is not liking the tablets she is on for it as she has gained a little weight she told the doctor today & he said unfortunately I can't change them you will have to see the specialist about that aswell. So we will make an appointment for as soon as possable with the specialist & see what he says or wants us to do now. Other then that were all ok. Other then kid issues.

How is everyone going ? We are all ok here. I've been working on Harry a bit. Also made a small engine stand to hold the gearbox as I'm sick of lifting it around to get to things. Also made a frame on wheels for the bulkhead for the same reason but also easier to work on & also gives me somewhere to stand it to paint. Worked out well. The disco is due for rego on Tuesday so have to give it a bit of a clean up. Cody has another work placement thing this week for school. He is doing it at a cafe in Charlestown square to do with his hospitality glass I think. He is a bit nervouse as he will be serving out the front this time. Last time he did this was at Glendale at a resuruant & was out the back helping prepair food & dishes. Karen is still yet to get into the specialist. Fred is doing well at work & gets lots of hours. Her car is due for rego to so it's going to the brother inlaws on Tuesday for a service & tune up & a pink slip. We had to get a rental certificate this week for centre link. So the realestate sent us a ledger of since we have been here in this house just on 5 years & the total in rent sofar is $80 grand. Both got a shock at the amount. Shame we can't buy somewhere. That's about it for us. We have a new home phone & Internet provider now in Optus. Seems to be working ok sofar.
I'm about to run a competition on the bushcraft group I'm in & part of the admin on face page. That will be interesting.
Our dinning chairs finally collapsed so got some newish ones & picked up a nice round table off gumtree for $10 at a deceased estate.needs to be sanded & re varnished but will do that later as we need it. A table cloth works great for now.

Hello All,
Well my contract finished early and I did the snail trick with a Uhaul medium sized furniture trailer towed with my ailing VN Commodore. Some prayers to God and I rolled stately into Bundaberg last night at 7:30 real time.
I reckon that it is a case of "no more shall I roam". Mostly because living away from your wife of 28 years is not a fun experience. Also the cost of running two households makes even a well paying job an average paying one as far as savings goes.
First priority now is to concentrate on finishing the PhD. Then I will either try and make another go of being self-employed or get a job that may not be the one of my dreams. However, running one household on a not too flash wage will most likely see me getting further ahead than the past six months wound up to be financially.
Plus there is another bonus - I am back with my Land Rovers :p.
Oh and I had plenty of space left in the trailer to pick up various Land Rover bits and pieces I had stored at my sister's place. So now all my crap is located all in one place; and I am at that place too
My apologies to Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz....
"There is no place like home."
"There is no place like home."
"There is no place like home."
Lots of clicks (Klms) on the Commodore and bingo. I am back in Kansas (Bundaberg)
Kind Regards

Hello V8 Ian,
The contact lenses tamed me to be able to wear them.
My vision with lenses in ... from the behaviour of some of the other drivers on the interstate haul is "better than most". There are some really scary people out there behind the wheel.
I am still very, very cautious putting the lenses in and especially taking them out. No more trips back to the Emergency Department with a scratched eye since back in September last year - touch wood.
Kind Regards

Hi Lionel & everyone, where ok here. Karen's not getting any better & is now again needing to sleep through the day again of an afternoon. I have been made part of admin for 2 bushcraft groups on face page. I was wanting to buy some spoon carving knives but the cost was to expensive for us. So I made my own plus about 10 other pairs & sold them. I finally got the shed cleaned up so I can start to paint Harry & also got another tin of primer ,had to get it ordered in. Only have the bulkhead to sand & the box under the passenger seat to sand to prime. Every time I start to sand them I'm only at for 20 minutes before I've had enough & get so cranky I stop. This would have to be the worste build I've had in 20 odd years. I think it's the shed set up here that's draggin it down. We have new neighbours , there around our age with young kids. We get on well with them & we have babysat there little girl while the elder boy went to a party. Had the time of our lives but gees we slept so well that night. We had them over for a cuppa yesterday & the son stayed for T as he was playing games with Cody & they ended playing monopoly. I've done some work for people across the road pouring cement. Also for another lady across the road I did some work on there campervan. Fred has been on 2 weeks hols from work. Cody is on school hols & when they go back he is off for a trip with the school to barington tops for kayaking that cost $450 they only going for 3 days 2 nights. I put the camper top for sale on face page but only had morons reply.
That's about it realy. I've had a few weeks being realy down.

Well I've been quiet busy the last few weeks. I was working on the neighbors camper van for a week or so. It was loosing charge in the battery's when it was standing still a couple of days. Turns out there was a stereo in it that didn't work & was draining the whole system. Ended up removing for them. Filled a milk crate with wires from it & a heap of wires that went nowhere. I got it all sorted for them so they happy. Now they need to sort out the injector pump. It's a deisel ford transit.
Spent all this week working on Fred's car. She has had it well over a year now & she has never had any trouble what so ever. Then 2 months ago it went upto the brother inlaws for a service & pink slip. It needed a new throttle body the bit with the butterfly in it. So had the replaced & the service. Last Sunday she rang me as the car broke down. It blew the top radiator hose off the radiator. Couldn't see any water or coolant on the road anywhere just a small amount all over the engine. So put the hose back on & filled it again to get it home. Checked it again when we got home it was empty again. So checked all the oil & trans fluid nothing there at all. It has had water all over the passengers side floor it was soaked & gets some on drivers rear floor. So I pulled all the dash out to check all the pipes under the dash & heater core. Nothing at all. So took the hoses off the heater & blocked them off refilled the system ran the car for awhile nothing. So put it all back rerun the car for awhile still nothing but the fluid was down. Pulled all the splash panels off under the front of car. Nothing no leaks anywhere. So I kept running the car & refilling it till it just was full. So far it hasn't gone down at all & there is no leaking anywhere in the system at all. I think who ever did the service on it didn't fill it up properly & it finally overheated & blew the hose. So far it seems fine. Someone said it could be leaking from behind the engine where the thermostat is. But if it was there would be some coolant on the ground by now with all the running of the engine I did while it was on the cement out the back. Can't see the housing. To change the thermostat you have to drop the engine & trans just to get enough room to change it by brail. Because he car is lowered its been a nightmare to do stuff on. Even pulling the dash out. To lay down under the dash your half in half out of the car so it's like laying on a lump of metal in the modal of your back & bending over the engine so much since its low. I'm in no hurry to do that again. Very sore now. So many aches & pains. I must be getting old. I like my cars you don't have to bend much in the engine bay & you can lay on kreeper & roll under the car easy.

So Fred & Karen just went out but asked me to check the level again. I took the cap off & it was down. So put a little in it. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. It says to check the level at the expansion tank thing. But you can't see where the level is. I'm guessing it's right & as it heats up & pressurises it sucks it out of the expansion tank so the level is correct. & as it cools down the tank sucks it back. Who knows. I hate modern cars I realy do.

Sounds like you are having a "fun time" Jason. Yeah, modern cars can be a complete headache.
I joined a new forum last week. It's pretty specialised and there are only 370 members on it and it's pretty quiet. It's called "Australian Air Defence Artillery Association" and it's only open to those who have served in some manner in an Australian air defence unit, and me having served on Bofors anti aircraft guns, I thought it might be interesting. I even had to send them a recent photo of myself.
I had to send them my old service number and the name of the unit I was in so they could check it out before granting me admission. As I said the Forum is pretty quiet with such a small number of members, but the photo section in it is pretty interesting to somebody like me.
Anyrate that's it from me, hope all is well with you all.:D:D

Well I had a busy weekend back at home with family up and down for my brothers weddings(photos to come). it was a really good day/night and the first time my brothers and i had been alone in 6 years, so it was good to sit around a table and chat and drink.
I also managed to take the forward control for a quick spin out the back of the house. unfortunately I don't have many good photos or videos as I was the only one there and hence was driving.

Had some drama during the week. My MIL who is 86 years old lives by herself in a retirement village. She suddenly passed out last Friday and collapsed hitting her head on a vanity unit and dislocating her shoulder.
She was unconscious for about an hour and a half and the neighbour in the next unit heard her crying out for help. MIL was too weak to get up and an ambulance was called and took her to John Hunter Hospital, where she spent the weekend getting various tests done and they managed to put her shoulder back in. She had a nasty bruise on the left side of her face and also down her arm. Her left arm is now in a sling.
She was released from hospital on Monday and is now staying with us so we can keep an eye on her until she fully recovers. We are arranging for one of those "Vital Call" alarms so she can wear it around her neck and push the button if she needs help.
Bit of a scare for us.

Lol. I haven't received any emails to say there's been a post. Haven't been feeling last couple of days. Sick in the guts. Dehydrated & I've pulled or torn something on my right side groin hip. & I popped my left shoulder out a bit over a week ago. Bloody dogs are driving me insane. The black one desided she wanted to jump off the ute into next door just to have ago at them. Gggggrrrrrr. Had to move Harry forward aswell as the camper on flat tires & pulling the camper I popes my shoulder out. As I was the only one home I wasn't able to pop it in properly so took a few days to sort itself out. I've finished the axe & the last lot of knives for awhile. I had to replace the engine on my compressor as it just wouldn't run properly anymore. It's a 6.5 hp Honda. But when we looked at the Hondas they where all over $500 so ended up getting a 6.5 hPa motor off eBay BRANDNEW with warranty & delivered to the door for only $145 all up. So now I can get onto Harry again
Karen's health hasn't changed any in its not getting worse but it's not getting better either.
I hate feeling sick in the guts cause it makes me panic on & off. I can't help it drives me crazy. Haven't been sleeping well either for awhile. & now Karen in her words is purring (snoring) it's like a bloody truck outside the window on the jake brakes.
We spend a bit of time on face page with admin for the Australian bushcraft group.
I'll see if I can workout how to load some pics of the knives I make forsale & the spoons I've been carving.

I wouldn't say some little help. I'd say of great help from everyone. I never used to go out at all. Since starting this thread I've been out more times then I can remember. I've had visitors which never ever happened unless family. I've been to Jims house a few times which just wouldn't happen at all. I've made some great friendships along the way. We got married. I've now got some other interests other then just eat sleep landrover. I am an admin for a forum which I wouldn't of even considered before. Karen & myself with the kids are more happier then ever. I still don't go out. BUT. If I have to like when Fred broke down I just do it now days not try to avoid it. When Karen had her accident I went to get her from the hospital & also arranged to get the car towed home. But we are all happy with what I've done & can now do even though I still don't go out. If the need does pop up I just do it now. I've had less panic attacks now that people know about them & I have learnt to just have a panic attack as I can't do anything about them anyway & have learnt to not worry about what others think of me because I suffer the panic attacks. I've achieved so much in these 5 years then I have ever done. I even made it through a breakup to come back to a better me & happier family. Yeah I'd say all you freinds have done & been a HUGE help. & we are so glad to have the friendships & surport from people who care about us for a change. It makes such a big difference in the out come of things. Our whole family here have benefitted from everyone's help surport & caring. & we all here thank everyone one of you for all this & we could never ever be able to repay each for the help.
PS I nearly cried the other day. I found a series 3 SWB GAME in pretty good nick for only $1200.:eek::huh::BigCry::BigCry:

Hey Banjo. Regarding your Honda geny. Take off its rocker arm and closely inspect it where it pivots. My experience is that that is the weakest point of the whole motor. Check it for cracks either side of the pivot point. Those cracks get wider and wider and your valve clearance goes out the window.

Hello All,
Some of you may remember I have been caught up in a never ending story; one that goes by the description of my PhD dissertation. I have literally attempted to write up my data analysis chapter over a period of years. I am doing my studies on a part-time basis. I will not say how long I have been studying it for
Anyway, I had reached a point close to utter despair and sat down on Wednesday the 15th and commenced another re-write starting from scratch. Previously, my page count kept being blown out of the water; way beyond the parameters an examiner would endure and still keep reading.
I seem to have removed a log jam in my little Aspie brain and I have covered and presented more concepts within my data analysis chapter than I have ever done previously. In the meantime I have only written a fraction of the page count that it formerly took me to write up a single concept.
So I have Etta James singing At Last and I have done some substitution of lyrics .... relating to my data analysis chapter "At Last" I think I am on the right track
Oh well - onwards and upwards :)
Kind Regards
Lionel

Glad use have the house to yourselves again Aus , well for now anyway.
I've been shopping. Brought a new second trolley Jack. & a 10 ltr sandblaster. Fixed Codys mates car (hilux) & fixed up the son inlaws bike, na there not married yet but been together long enough.
Other then that I haven't don't to much. Have realy sore hands. Right pointer finger split about halfway to the bone. Left pointer split to the bone on last 2 knuckles & a split an inch long between thumb & pointer on the left hand. They always get like this in winter hand creams just don't work so have been told to try heel balm. I'll give it ago see if it works. The disco runs out of rego in a month not sure if we will re rego it as we have the Subaru. Was thinking if we don't I mite rebody it with the body off Harry as I'd only need to engineer the body swap not engine gearbox & power steering. I have to look into it a bit more to see if they have the datem holes like on a RR as seen on that English how to build a 4X4. If so mite be worth it plus I get the comfort of the coil springs. Shame it's not a deisel though. Does anyone know if this has been done before. I know they put the series body's on RR so I guess it could be done easy enough. I'd like to see some if they have just to read up a bit on it. I went upto the secondhand tool shop yesterday for an old hand drill & a spoke shave, found an small axe to. Was realy hoping to find a draw knife. He thinks he may have one or two at home. Crossing my fingers as the new ones are just to dear. I was going to make a couple over the weekend but couldn't anyone local to get the right steel for them. Drew up plans for them to. Did I mention Cody has been doing HSC trials. There finished now so they start the HSC in a few weeks I think. Fred is signing on for the manager training at maccas. I've been selling some knives which is good to be able to contribute to the house again.
Jim called in for a visit the other day , was good to catch up. He lent me a book I've been trying to get hold of for awhile called times past it's all about Newcastle way back. Haven't read it yet. Will over the weekend.
Karen was bitten by something today on the left bum cheek. Leg got real sore & instant headache & felt sick. She is ok now just a bit sore on the cheek & leg. Looked just like a green ant bite.

Well I am back in Singleton as I just started a 4 week prac at a local primary school.
So far it is going good but the work load does increase quite quickly to the point where I teach the 4th week solely by myself-scary and exciting.
College has been interesting weather wise.

We had snow fall 3-4 times but only decent fall on 2 days.
I have not free time to do much at the moment with prac and on going assignments.
I am hoping to get the series 3 and the forward control out this weekend (weather permitting).

So I can upload pics on poota now but I can't type as there's no space bar working. Those are the knives I make. The first lot are draw knives. The curved ones are the carving knives. There's a couple there of the sorts of spoons I carve. & also the big normal knife is the one I helped design for the bushcraft group. There numbered. Limited editions. I have number 002.
Also with Harry going to cost me a fortune to engineer I'm not going to finish it on the original chassis it's going onto a disco chassis. Not sure if I'm going to use my disco or buy another. I have my eye on another one cheap. Also that bloody game has come up for sale again at Hamilton not far from us.
Wondering if any of use have some pics of the baulkhead bolted on a defender. Does it go in front of the outrigger or behind where it bolts the the chassis. Got my measurements for the new outriggers. Have to use defender ones though. Can't realy make my own as they need to be spot on & there higher in that they have a bit that goes across the top of the chassis. Once there on its pretty simple from there with the others. Then I need to make up my mind wether to use the tray or use a rear body tub off a 109 & do the mods to make it fit the chassis or I could just extend the chassis realy if I wanted to.
What do use think.

Well today saw the end of my 4 week prac teaching. I had a great time and learnt a lot.
In the last week I had charge of the class so I decided to change the room around to suit my teaching style.
How the class room looked before.

The kids are currently reading Harry Potter and this week was book week, so I decided to transform the classroom into Hogwarts.
On the Monday I gave the students their acceptance letters which looked quite neat and got them very excited.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2015/08/119.jpg (http://s948.photobucket.com/user/tonysmera/media/934_zpsytatfoik.png.html)
After that I sat them in the Great Hall and had each student come try on the Sorting Hat where they got sorted into their houses and I chose a responsible older student to be a prefect of each house.
How it looked after.

They are currently learning how to write procedures so in Harry Potter style I demonstrated a potion while they wrote down the steps taken.
Afterwards some kids came up and had a go too.

Today we had parents come into the classroom and they all really liked it and many thanked me for being there and helping theirs kids progress with their learning and also for setting the class up like Hogwarts. A few of the parents said that their kids were coming back home and telling them all the new things that happened today at Hogwarts.

Forgot to mention Jase. Last week the Fort Scratchley Historical Society contacted me. They are making a list of all members who ever served at the fort and wanted to know my years of service there plus my rank and service number.
If you go to the bottom right side of the front page and click on "Fort Scratchley Nominal Roll On-Line" and then click on "View Male" and run down the list you will see my name.:)

Karen's health may have taken a turn for the worse today so we have to wait 10 days for some results. The parts needed for the car mite have to wait a week or 2. Karen's health is more important & have to go to the specialist again.
I will keep use upto date as we find out. We haven't told the kids yet will wait for the results first.

Well got the new secondhand steering box. Had to change the pitman arms over. Put a new ballpoint in that was fun. Broke the first one got the second one in. I put the box back in yesterday bloody heavy & awkward. I bolted it in & noticed the bolts where tight from the start, put the tension wrench on them to do them upto the 30ft/lbs seemed to never get to the click & I think I may have over tightened them as you need to move the wrench quicker then I was so took longer to get to the click. Also putting the pipes back on the pipe with the larger nut goes on fine BUT. The pipe with the smaller nut well that just won't go on & im thinking the thread is different. The steering shaft doesn't seem to be in the same spot as when I took it off. Only took it off the box end but had to loosen & move the top knuckle upwards. Not realy to sure what to do now or next. Though if we have to send the box back I have to pay postage back to them which is fine but Karen read on the receipt that if we do we have to pay another $60 for handling for them to put it back on the shelf. Plus I would need another $44 postage back to us for another one. I still haven't got another pump as the one we got from all4x4 was the wrong one. Got the box off triumph rover spares they have a pump from $200 that's with postage since we got the box off them. Thing is that gives me the ****s is these people are the experts & should know the part or parts I'm ordering once I tell them the year model engine size. We are both seriously thinking we mite hand the plates back in for it & the trailer cause we just don't have the money to spend on it now. Have Codys school bill to pay plus his formal plus Karen has a specialists appointment in a few weeks that's another $200. Both trailer & car where only registered a week ago though the car only got 6 months as we only put 6 months on it last time so didn't need an inspection. & if I have over tightened the bolt threw the chassis to the box well it will be stuffed. Steel bolts into a cast housing & over tightened just don't work. Was surprised they didn't put the threads out when I was doing them up.
Haven't got Karen's results back yet. Said they be 10 days & let me tell you these 10 days seem to be dragging so slow.
I guess if we hand the plates in it would be a good excuse to scrap the body & throw Harry's body on it. Lol.

I had a massive massive panic attack tonight. Thought I was heamoraging from my butt. This I mite have a bad cut from itchy scratchy cheap sunny roll. Will keep eye on it tonight make sure. If not off to the doctors or hospital tomorrow morning.

If you do need a thread repair Jason, Keenserts are generally a better option than Helicoils, particularly in alloy or other soft material.

The disco is all good now. Fixed & right to go. Karen used Dr Google lastnight. Aperntly as we get older it can be common to have a bleed from a busted blood vesal or a tare from a hard stool. Well let me just say with all the straining from putting the power steering box in , Wednesday I had a huge solid stool Karen's I've torn some skin & I have a small dry skin around the area. Lol. Should be ok they heal themselves. I just feel crap & uncomfortable today. Mite have to take a bit easier for a few days. Didn't help the panic attack though. I thought I must of torm myself a new one with so much blood. :(:(

Even now, I think about it & I go all numb like the beginning of a panic attack. :-(
That's what made me have the massive panic attack. I thought I'd have to goto hospital & it hit like a ton of bricks worst panic attack I've had in a very long time. Still coming down from it.
I think if it was something bad I'd be in some sort of pain or discomfort. Or bleeding all the time.

Well I haven't done a great deal to Harry. I've cut off the bulkhead outriggers & rear crossmember. & taken all the military shackles & bump stops off. I've been down the road painting most of this weekend at KARENS new hairdresser shop. It's in Veronica street behind the post office. It was an old hairdressers but we made it fresh & more modern. Hope to be open soon hopefully within the next 2 weeks.
Oh didn't I tell use about that. Karen & a freind are opening there own hairdressers. The freind is a hairdresser. Karen has been doing the nail corse she is now a nail technician I guess that's what's it's called. She is also going to do an apprenticeship as a hairdresser. So I've been down the shop painting & doing all sorts. Graham step father is going to do some plumbing work there soon.
Karen will also be doing or applying hair colours & rinsing out. Also will be doing eyebrow waxing & tinting among other stuff. The apprenticeship won't start till the new year.
Our freind own the 2 buildings there. The old pet shop & the building next to it so NO RENT.
Karen is very nervous & excited about it.
I'll finish off the shop for them & help get it all sorted. Donna has been a hairdresser for 30 years & had her own salon at Wallsend. So should all be good. They where going to put Cody threw barbering apprenticeship but all the gaffes for it are in Sydney.
Oh & when we got roscoe desexed he got to Molly within the 12 hours so geuss who got knocked up as he still had some in the pipe works. She had 3 but only one survived. They where huge pups so she couldn't push them out so yep you guessed it rush to the vets for an emergency C section. So huge vet bill now.
Well I think that's about it all for us.

How is everyone. How was your Christmas & newyear.
I've been quite busy. I'm building a spoon mule. It's a bench that you sit at with a thing to hold your spoons while carving. I've been building a gas forge for my knives. I ran a compotition on my face page page Hillbilly carver & gave away a set of my knives which went viral. Hitch was good now I have knife orders to make hence why I'm duilding the forge. Also did a little to Harry. We need to get rid of the old chassis & the body off the disco. Scrap dealers used to pick them up for free but not any more you have to pay & its around $100. That's why it's still here. Centrelink have stuffed our pays up a bit lately since Cody is now 18. We have a council rubbish collection soon so will put as much of the smaller scrap out as I can to help get rid of it. The shop of Karen's has fallen threw as the lady she was doing it with was pretty much just using Karen to get the shop up & running for herself. But Karen has gotten a few more cleaning jobs now so is ok. I've hurt my shoulder in the last few days bad. Not sure how I did it but it's sore.
Had a lot of realy late nights & have slept in a few days. Though it's all back to normal tomorrow for us hopefully.
A lady a few doors down from us had a large gum tree cut down a little while ago so I went & spoke to the tree guys & asked if it at all possable that I could have a couple of thick biscuits from the base. They said yeah for sure so I have a couple now that I'm making coffee tables out of. But it's slow going as I don't want to use any electrical tools. I'm just using my hand tools.
The dogs had a pup. We got roscoe desexed but he got to Molly the next morning & she got pregnant. Wasn't good she had to have the merge cry Csection so the vet bill is huge. We sold the pup on Thursday. She had 3 but only one survived. So he's gone now. Glad he is to.
Young Fred's boyfriend has been talking to me a little bit now as he wants to build a bike. A Harley or older bike so he is asking me lots of questions & advise.
Cody has finish his schooling now. He past all his subjects in the HSC so happy for him. Just needs to get a job now. He likes barrister or cooking so looking in those fields.
Fred's still at maccas she is now doing the full managers course now.
That's about it for us I think. Looking forward to getting rid of the scrap so can work more on Harry as I'm sick of walking around it all.

Good to hear from you Jason. I have been busy also, so I will have to make time to get around to visiting you. We had a quiet Christmas with the family, smallest get together in years as one daughter lives in Queensland and another daughter lives in Western Australia.:)
I am booked in tomorrow to have a colonoscopy done at JHH. I have to drink that terrible fluid this afternoon, so I am not looking forward to it.:(
Can't wait to the end of this month when I semi-retire, will only be working no more than 20 hours a week, the manager has said they will look after me, no problem. I am preparing to fill in time after January, so looking at new interests I have joined the Cardiff RSL Sub-Branch and dusted off my service medals, that I have never worn and had replicas of them court mounted so they will be easy to wear. I have left the originals in their cases as I didn't want to risk loosing them or damaging them.:)
Thinking about joining the Fort Scratchley Historical Society and maybe volunteering as a guide at the fort also.:)
Filled in those ridiculously long forms from Centrelink to claim aged pension and I will submit those next week. They said put them in about a fortnight before retiring.
Anyrate, that's it from me, see you soon.:D:D:D:D

The RSL have a lot down there. They guy across the road Garry he does heaps with them. He was in the navy. The fort would a good thing to do. Doing tours.
We used to know a guy & his parents where caretakers there so we seen all the things the puplic isn't allowed to. The deep tunnels that go all the way to the top of King Edward park. There's one that goes down to the cliff at the lighthouse. Some go down to where the old police station is but you can't get all the way threw them.

Semi-retirement, geez I have not even started my career.
We just did the usual for xmas.
Highlight for me was just watching the cricket.

Just returned from JHH from having a colonoscopy done. Thank God that's over. They did find a polyp which they removed straightaway. That is a relief, because if it went undetected for much longer, it could have developed into bowel cancer and I DO NOT want to go through that again.
Feeling washed out, so will have a good nights sleep tonight.:)

Well we've had quite a crapy week thus far. Karen has 2 broken feet. Tuesday early afternoon she was walking out the back door with a basket of washing. I was crouched at the door having a smoke so I opened the door for her & closed it. She was walking down that crapy ramp we have at the back door when she fell & fell sideways off the ramp. By the time I closed the door & turned around I couldn't catch her. She fell heavy & has 3 very bad fractures in her left foot & has a cast on it. Her right foot there is 1 fracture it's not to bad so they've only strapped it. She has to stay off them. She is getting around on crutches which she is terrible on. Looks like she is going to fall on her face. Vickie is going to bring out a walker for her to sit on & get around. Has to go back to the fracture clinic on Wednesday.she did this on Tuesday but wouldn't goto the hospital untill yesterday. Anyway she is perched on the lounge for a few weeks now. Wonder what else is going to be thrown at us this year.

That's tough. I hope she heals quickly. Lachy broke his knee cap in November. He is still under strict orders not to do anything to strenuous.
Make sure she doesn't try to do too much.

Well, I am moving closer to semi-retirement. Visiting Centrelink tomorrow to put my application in for the aged pension, won't be fun as I know they are not easy to deal with.
I started working in December 1960 and will finish full time work at the end of this month, that's 55 years of paying taxes. Except for a break of 6 weeks in 1984 when I was retrenched and a break of 3 months in 2004/5 when I was battling bowel cancer, I think that is a reasonable effort.
Probably work part time for another couple of years before I give it away completely. So I think I have earned an aged pension.

Put our forms into Centrelink today, everything went smoothly we were out of there in 15 minutes, I don't believe it.:o
Actually, Jason, from what I have heard about Centrelink, I am expecting delays before our first pension payment is made. I bet some T hasn't been crossed on the form, or some I not dotted correctly.

Well, I worked my last day today as a permanent full time employee. Start on Monday as a permanent part time employee.:D So I guess I am now officially semi-retired. I guessed it..................Centrelink wants more information, I knew it. Sent the forms back to me with areas marked that needed more information. There is always a veiled threat when Centrelink send you queries is that they will cut you off you don't reply within a very short time. I don't think that is needed with us oldies.
Got a call from the Fort Scratchley Historical Society. Seems they have added a fully operational L60 Bristol Bofor Mk 12 A.A. gun to their collection up at the Fort. They wanted to know if I would be interested in doing maintenance on the gun and when it is out on display on open days, for me to tell people about it.:) I don't know if I have mentioned it before but I trained on the Bofor when I was in the CMF in the 1960's.
I said after 40 odd years I have forgotten a lot, but they said they would help to bring me up to speed and a lot of the information should come back to me.
Anyrate, I am going in to have a talk to them next Thursday. It's a voluntary position of cause Certainly will help to fill in the extra time I will have now.:D

Have a look at this. It's the L70 model Bofor, which is a later model of the L60 I served on. The L60 had a firing rate of 120 rounds per minute but the L70 fires at about 330 rounds per minute. that sure is a lot of lead in the air at one time.:o The L70 came out in the mid 1950's and eventually replaced the L60.

ps. Would have loved to have served on the L70.:)

Hey Jim Karen seen Mrs. Aus today at the car park under woollies here. She said she was walking or limping in her case & said to Fred hey that's Mrs Aus. Then said oh crap it's not she's smoking let's keep going she says to Fred. When Karen told me I said yes it probably was Mrs Aus with her mum sitting on the seat as she does smoke occasionally. Karen feels bad now cause it probably was her. Lol

Yep. Mrs Aus does have the occasional drag on a fag, always has done since her teenage years.:) Not a heavy smoker, just one every now and then. Her mother was probably stressing her out, as mothers do.
