I am in the process of designing and soon to be building a rear bar and sliders for my discovery and was toying with the idea of placing marker / running lights along the sliders.
I dont know if it is a good idea or not yet and would like to find out others thoughts.

Sliders are for sliding/provide protection to the vehicle from damage to the sill panel when sliding on rocks or against trees. If you think your lights will survive against that sort of punishment and they are waterproof, it may work for you.
I wouldn't worry about the hassles of wiring it and I don't think they would last.

I have 4 marker/clearance LED's down each side step, my steps have a lip below the sill pannel between the step, so the lights sit flush with the sill.

The lights thatI would use are LED and completely sealed, plus where they would be mounted on the side of the sliders they would be protected against damage.

I have one orange/red clearance light on each side of my RRC under the B pillar. No sliders yet.
