There is a bushfire west of Boddington at the moment, not too far out by the look of it.
I saw a plume of smoke go up around 2pm,which quickly grew into a large fire. The way the winds are blowing at the moment there could be issues for Boddington and the 2 minesites this afternoon if its not controlled.
I was told it started in the jarrah forrest and possibly by a powerline fault.
We stopped our job at 1pm,was 43deg the wind was gusting and we were afraid we could start a fire.We were tree clearing and there is plenty of granite rock so either the excavator, loader or grader could have set fire to the grass. It got hotter as the afternoon went on.
We can see the plume of smoke from Williams,Boddington is around 50ks as the crow flies.Thankfully the wind hasnt picked up as much as it can when she blows from the north in summer.Should be easy enough to control once its out of the forrest.
Goodluck to those closer to the fire.
