Ok I decided to give the DIY spark plug/lead change a go on my 2000 V8 Disco. I have double checked the order etc...and I am encountering the following problems:
This is the order used:
DS PS
2 3 Bottom 4 7
8 5 Top 6 1
8 7
6 5
4 3
2 1
Front
1. Turn ignition switch and hazard lights come on and won't turn off.
2. Turns over but won't start.
HELP????
Thanks in advance
Jason

youve managed to trip the intertia switch that detects if youve had an accident.
find that (its position is listed in the manual and press it.)

Its on the LH side of the bulkhead on a D2, a black rubber covered pushbutton switch with a 2 wire plug. Just press it on the top until it goes click.

Dave, how would he have tripped the inertia swittch? Regards Frank.
Probably by leaning in while changing the leads and pushed it by accident ?

Oh, OK, I thought it was in the cabin under the dash and I couldn't see how it could be activated changing plug leads, Regards Frank.

Just about anything will set off the tilt switch, a bump with a spanner is enough. A hazard for newbies! Everyone who turns up here with a D2 gets warned to look there first when it stops.:)

Just give it a knock...
get one thats sensitive and you can get them to go off by belting the side of the fire wall with a rubber mallet while the engines running.

Had a guy come in with his D2, he had a poorly fitted gas system for me to fix. When fanging it up a sand hill it back fired, the tilt switch activated, and he sat there for hours until someone worked it out. Great fun.

It was quit funny, i was dreding it because it didnt like much fun and everyone else has said it is a big job. Lucky for me ive got thin fingers, i got strait into it and it took me about an hour, so i was really happy until the car didn't start and the hazards wouldn't turn off, i took the plugs off and put them back on, played with all the wires/electrical plugs for about 2.5 hours, and all i had to do was push that button and all would be good.
