Curently the rangie has an older type longranger tank with the sender in the side of the tank. It has a very annoying leak around the drain plug, needs rewelding. I also have a longranger tank with the in tank fuel pump and sender in the top. Will I have any problem swapping them over? would I use the in tank pump or stay with the TDi lift pump? Thanks in advance for any helpful replies :)

AFAIR from 10 years ago the plastic tank RRCs have a different attachment method than the earler RRCs.
So the new tank should attach drectly to the car.
BUT seeing that you currently have a tank designed for a steel tank model , the mounts may have been modified.
So have a close look at the mounts before you start the swap.
Maybe give Longranger a call to ask about what would have been done to the mounts to make the older model tank fit.

the tank I want to put in was in the car when I bought it. We put the current tank in because it was bigger. brackets won't be a problem.
How about the pump? would you use the in tank petol pump or stay with the TDi lift pump?

maybe have a look at this post

Looking at another couple of posts It appears that some people replace the cam driven lift pump for an electric pump.
I am probably the wrong person for this as my diesel experience is zilch, but If i were doing it I would leave the lift pump and just replace the in tank pump with a bit of pipe because the in tank pump is high pressure over 40 PSI.
If you wanted a "boot N braces" fit a Facet in line, as it is low pressure high volume.

Thanks Phillip A I guess you're right about the pump. The intank one was a higher volume/pressure than the standard beause the V8 had a supercharger.
