Yep, got sprung lurking around the D3/D4 thread... (hi Ron!!:D;))
I'm wanting desperately to do the Cape this year and the Savannah Way...then back through the Tanamai to Alice Sp. and home across the Simpson... Have even convinced the co-driver to put in for some long overdue annual leave!
I've put my heart and soul into learning about and refurbing the P38 (all through this forum and RR.net)......it's running like a charm, and am confident that, apart from catastrophic failure, I can damn near analyse/diagnose and fix most things... Also I've gradually amassed a modest collection of critical spares to take all of which fit into a 50L container (semi trailer to follow...NOT:wasntme:)...
Now i've got some doubts and am wondering if a diesel may not be a better way to go...then I read the Disco 2,3&4 and Defender threads and they appear to be no more reliable than than a well sorted P38 (Bosch makeover...:D) The other issue is fuel...a BrownDavis tank is only another 55 L ...am wondering if a long range tank in a camper might not be a better and cheaper option...
