I have a Disco 2 from 2001 with a NNN500020 ECU.
I found a fault on the ACE ecu.
FAULT 04-07 ELECTRICAL FAULT IN DIRECTION CONTROL VALVE 1 CIRCUIT (FAULT 31) (CURRENT)
What means Fault 31??
I can't reset this fault, what can I do?

Well done, you must be about the first to find an ACE error, usually the best system on a D2.
See this thread, their is a link contained in it to research fault codes.

Let us know how you go.
Try using low range on some rough terrain(even kerb hoping). It utilises the ACE in a different way,if you have a stuck flow valve it may un-stick it.MUST BE IN LOW RANGE,wont happen in HIGH RANGE.
See if it clears the fault.
GOODLUCK

Sorry, but ACE never gets to know what range is being used.
Electrical fault with a directional control valve (I can't remember which one is #1) means the coil current draw is not as expected. This is likely to be an open circuit either on the coil or in the wiring somewhere but could be a short circuit somewhere in the wiring. The coils are a replaceable item if the coil is open circuit. The coils can be tested with an ohm meter. I can't remember their resistance but comparing 1 with the other will reveal if there's a coil problem.

Can you point me in the direction of the coils to test.
I've had an intermittent ACE amber light coming on. After a recent bleed and ACE filter change the light went away for several months after being a feature of most days.
I'm away on a long trip at the moment and it came back after a couple of long days on the road.
I had the Fault 31 described above as 'logged' and have been able to clear it also "FAULT 03-04 PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE FAULT (LOGGED)"
It always clears on switching the ignition off then restarting.
I suspect an electrical fault or something else on the way out? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Maybe some thing similar to this ? www.discovery2.co.uk / ACE amber light - Pressure Transducer (http://www.discovery2.co.uk/ACE_transducer.html)

Thanks fatman I'd found that and it was different in that the light was on permanently and the fault traceable to the pressure transducer.

I ve got a similar fault on my D2 2003 MY :
if french : ERREUR 04-07 ERREUR ELECTRIQUE VANNE CONTROLE CIRCUIT DIRECTION N°1 (ERREUR:32) (COURANT)
It done translated something like that :
Fault 04-07 electrical fault controle valve circuit number 1 (fault 32) current
I errased the fault with the nanocom but it re-appears quickly
Have you any idea to solve it ?

The ACE modulator has two direction control valves which are located on the top face of the modulator block. The fault code indicates that there is an electrical fault in either the coil that actuates the direction control valve or the wiring to the valve. Direction Control Valve 1 is the valve closest to the front of the car.
Check the wiring from the ACE ECU to the modulator to ensure the problem is not simply a wiring fault first. If the wiring is ok replacing the coil pack for DCV 1 would be the next step. The coil is part# RVT100040.
cheers
