I'm rather interested in a certain D3 in WA. Only thing is at the moment there is no service history for the car as the books were lost. It appears the car first lived in NSW and has since been purchased by a wholesaler in WA and whilst being tranported the books were lost.
Is there any way of establishing the cars service history if you have for example vin or rego details? BTW the car now wears WA rego plates.

Check with the original selling dealer. If they have serviced it over time they should have all the records.

You will need to supply the VIN to the original NSW dealer or do a ring around to the various dealers. As Jon has said hopefully they have a full service history.
Cheers.

Trobbo,
I bought my D3 in the ACT, brought it back to Perth and took it to the local LR agent for a wheel alignment. They found that the vehicle had been serviced by a LR agent in the ACT, found out all but one of the recalls had been done, which they did for me. Able to tell me when service was done in relationship to time and klms. The only time I came unstuck was when he had the vehicle serviced by someone who didn't have access to the LR data base, which appeared to be one service from what I could find out.
So whilst not having the stamp and the signature of the original service guy I did have assurance that regular servicing had been done.
When looking h to buy a LR in the past I got the VIN number and plate to check up on a persons claim that the vehicle had been serviced by LR agents, found to be not quite true. They then claimed that they must have forgotten to enter the details, I don't think so!!!!

Hi all,
The only way that this can hapen is if the vehicle was on a "Corporate Service Plan".
The dealers are not interlinked between each other aprt from the LandRover Viking System. Warranty claims/Corporate service claims/ordering of vehicle etc.
So if i carried out a normal service (not Corporate) at MLR in Melbourne, Trivetts in Parramatta would never know when i did the service as our localised computer systems dont talk/communicate with each other.
But on the Corporate system the service needs to be logged on LR's Viking computer which all dealers have access to.
BTW Trobbo, if you do purchase a D3 u should take the VIN to your dealer & ask them if any outstanding actions/recalls are applicable to your vehicle.
In some circumstances it make make a huge difference to the vehicle.
If it is an outstanding action/recall there is no charge to yourself.
Cheers.

Thanks for your help guys. I'm not sure which dealer the car was sold through atm and unfortunately with the original books having been lost and the car in a yard finding the prior owner may also be difficult but I will see what I can find.
anyway this is the truck (edit - no the D3 is nothing like a truck) I have in mind. Black HSE v8 with 61,000km TRIPLE SUNROOFS, SATELLITE NAV, PREMIUM SOUND.
Hmmm wonder if there is an e-diff hiding under there

Trobbo,
Have sent myself an email to work on Monday, will follow up on selling dealer & if the vehicle has a rear E-diff.
I will also check if the vehicle has had a full Corp Service & if so i can forward this to you.
If not you may have to ring the dealer & enquire.
Cheers.;)

Hi Pete,
Interesting info, maybe the guy I bought it off was in a corporate plan, he was the first and only owner, bit late now. The first vehicle I looked at where the guy assured me all the servicing was done by Land Rover, I found an Auto Masters sticker in the glove box which was also a bit of a give away, for the the conformation with the LR agent was the "nail in the coffin" maybe I was a bit harsh............
The agent I spoke to did mention "Viking" but I didn't know what he was talking about, not wanting to appear "silly" I didn't follow up on this suspecting that every good Land Rover owner should know these things. "The only silly question is the one you don't ask", how true is that......

It is a Corporate Service vehicle but surprisingly it's only had one service (1st) carried out under this plan.

thank you that is a great bit of information.
So if it has no outstanding actions does that indicate that it would have been back a couple of times for servicing/repair beyond the initial service?

Yes, It has been to a dealer to have what recalls were due for this vehicle.
Even though the vehicle had a list of corp services to be done the customer may not hve qualified for this. It may pay to ring Trivettes or PM Scott.
Cheers.
