Hey guys,
Not really much info, but thought I'd post up some pics of the job I did today.
Fitted a new ARB on board compressor into the D2.
There was already a 2nd battery tray in the engine bay when I bought her.
Not really planning on doing much touring so though this an ideal spot for the compressor.

Anyhow, pics attached - enjoy! :D
(not best quality, took with my mobile)

Are you going to put any heat protection between it and the engine? i've head that they don't love the heat in an engine bay. Is your's a V8 though? i know that mine was mainly heat caused by the TD5 turbo being on that side... not sure if just the exhaust would be enough i guess?

Hey Shamo.
Yes, the heat proved to be a prob today out with WA-AULROians.
Managed 3 tyres then spat the dummy.
Compressor wouldn't restart until we got moving again and got some airflow back in the engine bay.
Will be looking to fit some kind of heat shield around it, despite ARB assuring me there wouldn't be a prob. :(

Cheers,

Heat shielding wont help... Your getting Heat Soak....

I ran ARB under bonnet in my D1 stroker / supercharged... That bonnet got so hot you couldnt keep your fingers on it...

Never had a problem...

None of the cheap(er) compressors are 100% duty cycle.... For that you need to spend around $1k

Quickly, did you have the bonnet up? How hot was it that day? Was your engine running at the time?

Hey kieren, you don’t seem to have much luck with compressors do you!!
But that new ARB one is a real beauty, its a pity you cant tuck it somewhere in the cab like mine is.
Are you not bothered in a second battery then?

Cheers

Hiya Jezz!
Compressors....hmmm! :( :(

The ARB is certainly good by all accounts, and I am glad I've bought it.
Spoke to ARB after Sundays trip and they think there is something wrong with the temp cut-off switch, so they are having the unit back for testing under warranty. They've seen where it's installed and reckon there shouldn't be a prob with it. Good job I kept the receipt for this one! :D

Where is yours installed then?

No, not bothered with 2nd battery. Only "real" advantage I can see (and this is only my personal thoughts), is for touring etc, but as it's a V8, I won't be doing much of that! ;) :p
So the already installed tray seemed a logical place to put it.

However, IF I ever decide to have a dual battery setup, the Red Arc unit and wiring is already there, but I'd prefer the battery in the rear of the Disco, reading how engine heat can sometimes affect the life of the battery.
So I've not really ruled it out entirely.....

Cool.
but mine is just for my rear airlocker so it was easy just having a thin air line going to the diff, not like a big air hose..
