I've just finished installing power for the rear of the Fender (puma).

So I thought that I'd share the project with you.

The problem:

I had installed a 20 amp fused power supply and 12v cig outlet in the rear behind the seat. Since installing the rear drawer unit the fridge in its new position was prone knocking the plug out resulting in warm beer.
The air compressor comes with battery terminal clips that require the seat cushion to be taken out to get to the battery. So being able to plug it in elsewhere would be handy.
A single 12v outlet in the rear is sometimes not enough.
I figured that 3 points would just about do the job.

Next: where to put them so that they were readily accessible without having to unpack the rear.

Solution:

Under the rear passenger seat there is a bit of space that is seldom used.

It is readily accessible and out of the way.

The bits:

2 merit sockets: one for the fridge and one for the compressor.

1 Cig type for the other occasionally used items: light, laptop and inverter.

An enclosure (ABS Jiffy Box) from Jaycar.

1 Merit plug and 1 inline socket for the compressor lead

Some grommets: 1 for the hole in the Jiffy box, 1 for the hole in the body where the power cable enters the cabin and 4 used to space the jiffy box from the body.

Wiring, Connectors and shrink tube

The makings:

The wiring was a tight fit!

The installation:

Hole drilled and grommetted

The box was positioned so that the outlets were placed facing to the rear of the Fender as they are less prone to being knocked and as far forward as possible so that inserting the plugs is easy.

I put an Anderson plug on my compressor and it now just plugs in to the back where the 12V for the trailer goes.
