Just fitted a set of mud rails to my SVX. They need a small modification due to a nut used on the inner rear mount, but what a transformation. Also transport from UK was only 5 days. Very efficient.:D:D:D

What are mud rails?
They extend the seat travel by a couple of inches to gain a far better driving position.

Ahh! I know the ones. I thought you were talking about something like rock sliders. :D
I looked at them when I had the County. They look dead simple to make.

I believe that mud rails (or something similar) are also available from Exploz in Sydney Ph: 0438183507 (www.exploz.com.au (http://www.exploz.com.au))
I have no pecuniary interest in Exploz

You may be a little ahead of the times Ron as the mulgo link is not yet working. However, as you said, all the info is still on the exploz site. $80 for the mud rails.

About $146 express air. Worth every cent. Last week my son bought a D3 in Melbourne and we shared the drive home to Perth. Could not get over the driving possition and ride, the Puma still doesn't ride as nice unloaded but the driving possition in the Recaro's is now up there

Compared to the price of $80 from Exploz, I guess a large percentage of that must have been the 'express air'. :o

I have used this business, Exploz, for their seat rails. They advertise on here. These are sensational and should be on every Defender that needs more leg room.
Daniel was extremely helpful with my questions and arranged fitting for a nuff nuff (read as not very handy with tools!) like me.:p
I also do not benefit but always willing to pass on any great products and service I come across.:)

I might stand correcting, but it looks like the UK mudrails may allow the seats to sit a little higher? they appear to be made from larger channel?

Thats correct. I removed all but the thin spacers on mine. That allows the seats to travel beyond the rear of the seat box

The rails from Exploz also make the seats sit a little higher also. They are both a good products from what I can see and I'm very happy with the results.:D

Could be so if you have the skill and the time to do it....and then you actually do it!:wasntme:
For me, I have no skill in this area and little time so it works well for me buying off the shelf.
Good luck!

I got mine from Rovacraft here in Perth, I think $120 a pair more or less, They are Britpart. Very simple to make if you have the time, they use 25mm angle, makes drilling and welding in the captive nuts simple, a quick spray or powder coat and some hi tensile bolts.
They are brilliant, as I can now easly move my feet from the accelarator to the brake (very usefull) and roll down the window with out having to stop the car. Down side is that if you are tall you hide behind the B pillar and your eye level is higher than the side windows (I am 6'4").
Hope this helps
