Alt failure? What happens if you take alt belt off re running rough?

Crossfire ? Ground problem for amp module?

Yea ....
Tell him to disconnect all the "alternator wires" (isolate the alternator) & see how it behaves .....

and NO ... don't do the "remove the fan belt" way // ...... Just Disconnect the wires only

He could have a damaged earth strap as well.

Sounds like fried diodes in the Alternator.

Exciter diode failure will cause this, need a new rectifier.

Running rough due to fluctuating voltages, mostly over charging.

Not an easy fix apart from disconnecting alt wiring, but it'll chew batteries:(

What part of Tassie are they from?

okay finally got word back, you were all on the money, it was the alternator.

racq put him onto someone at gatton with the right gear and had him on his way back to the apple isle about 2 pm.

he said thanks to every one for the input!

thanks fellas..
