Has anyone that has a D4 on order been quoted an approximate delivery date? I ordered a D4 HSE TDV6 with most options in early December, but can only get a "probably late May, early June" delivery date from my dealer. Wondering if anyone is getting anything more specific.

I ordered my D4 at about the same time. I was told "February build, late-April delivery" to Perth. The salesman also showed me how they can track the transport ship on a PC and the delivery ship makes its first stop at Fremantle, then goes to "the East Coast stops". My guess is it goes to Adelaide, then Melbourne where yours will offload in mid-May or so. It probably then takes another 2 weeks for Customs pfaffle, then on a transport to Tasmania, then the dealer has to put a patch over what got dinged:o (just kidding) before delivering it to you. Seriously, as the salesman if he can report the ship movements to you occasionally once it's onboard.
Australia is at the @ss end of the world's distribution systems and Tasmania is the furthest end of it. The good news is that I'm told the ships sail around Capetown, South Africa, so it's not so likely to spend an extra 3 months in some Somalian warload's custody.

Gday,
I ordered mine late October, and they said the HSE wait was significantly longer, so I decided on a 3.0 SE with tweaks. It still took to Dec 23 to arrive, and the sales guy didn't have a firm idea on the delivery until Dec 18. Upon receipt in early Jan, the sales guy said 120 were sold in Dec and the waiting time for these purchases was out to as long as Sept 2010...
My car was pre-configured and already existed when i bought it, have you been told when your car is expected to roll off the production line and get on a ship?
Its one thing to know its in transit and your delivery is dependent on weather, customs and logistics. Its another to know you are an entry in the print queue of the factory and your car is 10,000 components sitting in boxes. The dealer should be able to at least give you this info.
You wont be disappointed when you get it, especially if you plan to use all of its off road capabilities. Its a very capable four wheel drive. Cheers, Andy

I ordered mine on 22nd Dec 2009, but in fortunately what I wanted (White 3.0 SE with eDiff, no SatNav) was already being built without any changes necessary to the order (which would not have been possible). It was due for completion on 29/1/2010 and when I rang the dealer on 31/1/2010 to check, he confirmed that it was done and it would be due in the country on 25/3/2010.
Let's see how things go...
Oh, at the time they seemed pretty confident of being able to alter a Feb build to any spec I liked...

Sounds about right to me. I ordered a HSE (with ediff and a few other options) in mid Dec and was also told mine would be a Feb build with delivery late April - early May. According to my dealer, the Adelaide cars get shipped to Melbourne and then road/rail transported to Adelaide.

I ordered a D4 mid December , was quoted delivery late January, and took delivery late January. I was lucky. They had 2 with the options and colour i was after already on the boat. All vehicle detail was available, as they were in transit. I do know of a 3litre HSE ordered about the same time, and not expected until April/May. I guess you can expect long delays if they have to build it from scratch. If there is a vehicle already in the system, the delivery timing is more reasonable. Even a plain jane Commodore/Falcon special order used to be close on 3 months. Perhaps others can provide comparison data for local manufacturers.

Just got an update from the dealer - expected at the Sydney dealership on 17/3/2010, and some minor things to be added to it (window tinting etc) so he said to expect it in my hands by April! Woohoo!

I ordered my HSE with a few bits and pieces early October, received a confirmed ship arrival in Fremantle 14/3/10. Delay was caused by surround camera failures (some caught on fire) Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

I ordered a D4 about 2 weeks ago, and was told March build, late May/ early June delivery. Delivery date on purchase agreement is 3 June 2010, and I live in Sydney.

Thanks for the replies. I was told today that due to high demand, particularly for the 3L diesel, and limited build numbers being allocated to Australia, that mine won't be built until April, with late June/early July delivery. That's going to be 7 months from date of order, and 2-3 months longer than originally told, which is more than a little frustrating. Hope it's worth it!

Not good news to me, ready to get a D4, long wait is going to be very frustrating...:(
Positive side, it means it's a very good car

My 22 Dec order is now scheduled for delivery late-May (2010 at least). That's 6 wees later than expected at order time, but that's no different to industrial gear (eg, natural gas compressors) ordered from overseas. SWMBO keeps telling me that I should enjoy the enhanced cash flow for another 6 weeks, but I'd prefer to just have my D4.

There is an advantage in waiting for your car. I read on a UK Land Rover site last night that LR UK have released a series of software updates and these will be implemented on all new deliveries. My D4 will be delivered in 2 weeks, am I happy, you bet!

Considering your vehicle has to travel from the UK to Australia the delivery times here do not seem that bad. Was quoted a 5 month delivery for a D4 when in the dealership last weekend. Factory is only a 2 hour drive from here. Was told this was due to demand which was well beyond the ability of the robots to screw them together in the factory.
