View Full Version : Photocomp #09 - Up Close - finishes 28/02"

Hello everybody.

The comp is "Up Close".

You can interpret this as you like.

Those with compact cameras are at a distinct advantage here as they typically have better macro modes than non-specialist SLR lenses.

The photos must be taken by you and within the last 12 months. Max of two photos per person. Post processing allowed.

Good luck.

Steve

Aren't they fibreglass with 4 wheels? Seriously, all I know about plants is that they grow, although not in my yard apparently:(

:Rolling:

OK so we both share the same gardening skills;) Whats worse for me is my folks owned a plant nursery for years and can grow any plant. Me, I just watch them die:(

No, a 70-200 with a Nikon T6 close up glass on the front of it.
I was it call close up photography because it is not a real macro.

Get one it is a lot of fun ;)

Top marks for bravery if you did glass the lion and then hang around for long enough to take the shot. I had assumed it was a fight with another lion which caused the cut.

Cheers, Steve

Stooge what lense you using...your getting such rich colour is that from PP

Cap
28th February 2010, 06:52 PM
Some of it, but only small amounts. I found that the D80 is excellent for capturing colours. If your not getting the same, maybe you have a setting where you can set the images to 'vivid' which I have done for some of these images... but others became too saturated and actually had to tone down the saturation at pp and turn off the vivid setting.

The only real pp done on these images is to retain sharpness as this is lost when converting NEF into jpg.

Chucaro
28th February 2010, 07:00 PM
Opening and PP the Nikon images with Adobe software will never get the same result as using Capture NX2.

What glass and camera did you use for it?

Hi all,

Thanks for the votes!

The camera was an S5IS, shot taken at Werribee Open Range Zoo. It's one from a sequence of shots taken from no more than 5m away. There were a couple I took literally 20cm from the lion.
