It have to be one of the more economical heavy 4X4 available.
Rustic, my 1994 Defe have new injectors fitted in Melbourne and a used injection pump fitted and adjusted by Justin in Hobart.

We returned home (Moore Park Beach, Qld) driving more than 2770 km. The worth performance was from Hobart to outside Melbourne (441 km) done 10.88 lts per 100km but in many places I was pushing 120 KPH and never under 100 in the road to Devonport.
After that I kept the Defe under 100 kph on an average of 95 kph doing 9.14 lts per 100 the best and 9.63 the worth comsumtion!!!

The Defe was fully loaded and have so much torque that bugger if I know way it have 3rd gear!!!

Thank you Justin for a fantastic job!! :)

Those are excellent figures Arthur! I got your PM about the fuel lines, if you need any bits sent up to repair let me know, and thanks for the feedback.
Take care, I'll try to keep Carlos in check for you,

I like to know stuff, so as a matter of interest, can the 300 TDI be chipped ?
Can the EGR be blocked of like the TD5 ?

Tar.

No mate, no electronics on the Tdi300 however the pump, turbo, exaust and intercooler can be change or tune to get heaps of more torque/power.

I am happy in the way that Justin tuned up the pump which it is very conservative but with more power without increase the fuel economy.

I would do some research to see if by improving the air intake and fitting a 2 1/2" exaust free flow the engine would operate even better.

I guess that few members in the forum have done some of these work.

Cheers
