I am in the market to buy a second hand Disco 3, and I've heard that there have been some reliability problems with Discovery vehicles, and that when they do have a problem they are very expensive to repair.

I simply wish to seek advice on this, to either dispel these assertions as myths or to determine the nature of the issues. I am led to believe, for example, that there were some problems with the 2005 Disco 3 but from 2006 and beyond all the issues have been resolved?

Could somebody advise me please?

Many thanks,

Greg M

In general the D3 has proved to be no more or less reliable than any other vehicles in it's class.
My MY05 TDV6 SE has been very reliable for all of it's 90,000 km's.
The only issue I have had is a noisy/sticky Electronic Park Brake and that only after a very heavy session of playing in the mud and deep water.
Once cleaned out it is fine.:)
Build quality of Discovery's took a quantum leap with the release of the D3 so don't be afraid to to get into the most capable 4X4 by far.
