Basically it a stroked / uprated 300TDI.

Increased from 2.5L up to 2.8L, has the option of wastegate turbo, or VNT.
Improved oiling and cooling, slightly larger plenum, (and strengthened crank/conrods?)

Cost around 10 - 15k for a new motor in a crate. Apparently very popular in the Middle East. No longer offered locally, as there are considered to be better options to spend that sort of money on.

Powerstroke International HS2.8 in our case

I think Powerstroke is just a label given to a range of stroked motors, as I've seen it applied to a few different donks.

Not made in the 2.8 any more, probably the new Ford Transit motor is the nearest alternantive.

Ford in North and South America seem to use Powerstroke as a name for their diesel engines of all displacement.

They have discontinued using the 2.8 litre, Powerstroke engine in the Ford Ranger for the Brazilian market.

Apparently the engine is still in manufacture though, but price has gone up because they are not producing as many now.

As the cost is over $1000, I believe you would have to pay duty plus 10% GST - I had to pay both on a transfer case I imported (IIRC 15% duty was the rate charged for automotive use).
