HI Guys
I was wondering why the Discovery 3 has a ball weight capacity of 350 kg's and the P38 only has 150K'kgs. They both are rated at 3500 Klgms towing capacity but the ball weight is so different. I thought the suspension and undercarriage was very similar. I would like to know the answer to this if anyone can shed some light. I can't see any point in having a 3500 Klgm towing cap. and a ball weight cap. of 150 Klgms

I don't know of any trailer or alike that weighs 3500kg's and a ball weight of 150 kg's.... MMmmmmm

I thought the suspension and undercarriage was very similar. The designs are completely different.
P38 has live axles, D3 has independent suspension all round.

It also depends on what tow bar the P38's equipped with. I recently had a Hayman Reese installed on my RRP38 and the ball weight on it is 250kg.

Does the 150kg refer to the swan neck tow hook provided with the car in the UK?

But if the Land Rover specified tow ball weight for a P38 is 150kgs that is the max tow ball weight allowed irrespective if your tow bar can handle 250kg.
