Yes, straight swap. LR even issued a bulletin about this for those D3 owners who want to update the look of their rear end :).

Scott, you say it's a straight swap....but being a landrover design, you can bet it involves a gearbox comming out and tyre rotation just to get at the screws to take the old ones out!

I rather like the look of the D4 grill and would swap this before the tail lights if it fitted.

I prefer the D3 grille - the D4 one isa bit "bling" for me.

Make sure you save your grille then when I win lotto and buy a D4 we can swap grilles !!

Ray,Don't be silly Ray.

No need to rotate the tyres at all for this job. The gearbox needs to come out for most jobs but it's secured with wing nuts to make life easy.

I inquired about this with a dealer.
D3 has a dealer fit of rear lights that are the same look as the D4 with the LED's.
Price I was quoted was $1200 + labour.
So I think the engine has to be turned around the other way as well.

I'm up for that too. And while I have the gearbox out I am going to swap my 2.7L for a new 3L donk. Tighten it all back up with wingnuts and loctite and away we go! Hippy

Loctite on the wingnuts hey? You are confident that it will never have to come out again!

Ray,

There is a video of how to do put D4 tail-lights onto a D3 on Utube. It is very simple.

You can do it without removing the gearbox if you have the right gear.

Google Land Rover "Body-off". :p

I did mine a few months ago, I got VALEO tail light clusters and 2x 50W 8 R ohm Car Turn Indication Signal Rear LED Bulb Load Resistors.

Total cost approx $615 plus $10 for the resistors.

I bought all parts from Australian suppliers, the tail lights were from NSW and the resistors were from VIC, do a search for EBay part no = 251537060910 for the resistors and the light clusters were from Karcraft, cost were $615 inc delivery for two clusters.
