View Full Version : Got one!

I finally picked up my Discovery 2 today. Only a week late after the dealer tried to fix the central locking and ended up replacing everything to get it to work. I drove it home from Gosford and it drives beautifully, nice and quiet after the Defender. The transmission mode switch doesn't work, but did when we test drove it, so will pull it apart tomorrow.

A few questions:

* The rear windows only go half way down, is this normal?
* There is a switch where the coin tray normally is, marked IN/OUT, what does it do?
* There is no cargo blind in the back, but it looks like it had one, where can I get one?
* I got no owners manual, are these available on line, or does anyone have a spare?
* Did all seven seaters have rear air conditioning?

Pictures tomorrow.

have a look at the shape of the door, they cannot go any further down.

there are plenty of these around, ask here in markets.

as above

Pictures tomorrow. hurry up!

Auto mode question...Are your M and S lights on when you turn the ign switch on?
Mine wern't and no mode..had reverted to manuel mode, might have changed when the locking bits were done.
Had help from here with a nanocom:)

In and out switch...maybe for a winch? Can't think of any thing else.

Air cond...I think the rear was an option but others may know more.

Damn!

I will crawl under tomorrow to see if the CDL is attached to the switch.

Can you lower the rear suspension or only raise it?

Thanks fatman, that's what I wanted to read.

Is there a way to make the SLS lower without having a remote?

Short answer is NO, I bought the remote from Gympie Land Rover Spares for just over $200 and works fine.
Regarding rear AC, I have an S model 2004 2a and no rear aircon, so it must have been an option.

Hey Brian. That SLS remote.

Does it work to both raise & lower ??

Does the engine need to be running for it to work ??

My 04 D2a (7 seats) has rear A/C ... shown on the options list as an option. Worth every penny. Chills the inside down really quickly with both front & rear a/c on.

Hey Kev,
I use mine to lower for connecting the caravan, when connected, raising back to original height.
I can use it outside the vehicle, but all doors have to fully closed, including rear door, and ignition on. It doesnt require the engine to be running.
Yes I have the 7 seater too, but as I am mostly on my own, ie, no kids, not worried about rear AC.
Happy motoring.

Not sure about this, the CDL is controlled by the lever used for low range, it is a square pattern and CDL can be operated in both high and low range on my 2004 d2a.

Not sure what your switch is for, you will just have to try to operate to find out what it does. For safety reasons, only do it when stationary.

My model is the 02 and I got the AMV after market cdl actulator installed, they fit in place of the coin tray and have a switch with a light saying In/out. 03 and after Landrover re introduced the cdl again

I crawled under yesterday to trace where the switch goes. Apart from getting my eyes full of dust I saw they appear to go to an actuator on top of the centre diff. The wires were disconnected. Not having been under a Disco before I didn't know what I was looking at, perhaps I'll look under my Defender to see if it is the same centre diff, the transfer case looks the same.

Update: I found the AMV site (thanks Baffle) and the switch is just like their CDL kit, so does the funny thing on top of the centre diff housing.:)
