Hi Guys
Trouble with my freelander 1 td4 2006 model today. First thing this morning started ok, drove my son to school,<5k's, stopped for about 15 mins, started OK, drove to near my work for a site meeting, about 40k's, stopped for about 30 mins, started ok, drove to work, about 5k's, stopped & went into the office. About 30 mins later one of the guys got the keys to go off for a site inspection of his own, went downstairs, car wouldn't start!

Went down & had a go myself - motor turning over fine but won't fire. Checked a couple of fuses, all ok.

Rang the NRMA & had a guy come out, he had a look at & no luck. The motor did kick once when he first arrived & I tried to start it again. He checked the battery, fuses, all ok. Seemed to be no current at one of the relays - not sure which one but located in the engine bay fuse box. While turning the motor over the motor warning light seemed to stay lit. He thought it was a fuel problem. It's been towed to Landrover at Artarmon for a look see, hopefully they can find what's wrong & get it going.

A bit of background on the car:

Last week it was idling rough, but that cleared up on about thursday when I put more fuel in the tank. It still had about 1/4 in the tank when I did this.

For the past 12 months it has been reluctant to start on colder mornings, I spoke to the guys at Landrover about it, they suggested it was a seal in the fuel pump leaking & the fuel pump losing pressure overnight, not something to worry about. If it got worse (which it hadn't done) they'd do some pressure tests to see.

Generally been going fine, on the F3 motors up the hill at the Mt Colah exit in 5th doing 120 without my foot on the floor.

Any one else care to give me an opinion?

Oh, it's a manual with about 140k on the clock. Just due for it's service, which had not been done yet.

Thanks in advance

Dave

Hi Dave,
I have a 04 td4 manual also. At 120,000 I had the same problems.
Car was still under warrenty at the time.
Turned out to be the fuel pump located under the body, below and forward of the fuel tank. Replace at a cost $750.
Dealer was not to happy.
Hope it's that simple for yours.
happy rovering
Bruce :)
