HI Guys,
i have a 2002 Def Extreme with key central locking and want to upgrade to Remote Central, however having great difficulty finding the central unit to see if i can do a straight swap of the boxes or have to rewire.
does anyone know where the unit in these might be?
have checked all the dash, doors, even in aircon ducts, under the seats.

thanks

im not 100%,, but all td5s have the same security sys,, and all you need is a key fob and program it to the ecu,,

its the green box behind the instrument cluster but theres not much to look at;)

Pull back dash facia and read the MHz frequency on the greeen 'Lucas 10AS alarm unit' front RH side down a bit. It should be 315MHz, but also 433MHz were used. You will need this to order a 10AS remote fob. Needs to be activated and synchronised by dealer or someone with Autoloic, Rovacom etc. IIRC Nanocom isn't yet capable oof programming remotes, but someone else may be able to confirm this.

I had an aftermarket immobiliser fitted which also has remote central locking. The chap who did it said he would never do another Defender!

I second that, I've had to do a few D1's also, they share the same 10AS alarm system, as some of them have woeful receivers:( In the case of the D1 I just extend it up and lay it across the bottom of the windscreen along where the dash meets the screen, tucked down out of sight.
