hi there
I am looking for a new brake fluid reservoir for my S1, 1952 landie. Most places say that this item is now obsolete? how many times have we all heard that reply?
Anyway craddocks and blanchards have them but for about 80 pounds sterling, to much for me.
Would one of the discovery series 2 brake fluid reservoir tanks adapt and be usable in this situation?
I note that authenticity is not the object of the exercise, just keeping the vehicle in the paddock ..
.
goodbye Peter;)

you can make up an adapter for the later 2 bolt master cylinder..A chap in uk was selling them ... but if you have the ability ...you can make one , at your own risk

You should be able to get a S11 one and alter. I have adapted one in the past. Do recall seeing a reservoir advertised recently on ebay but not sure if is was UK or Aust.

Cheers
Dunno

Hi there Mike
thanks for the information, I tried looking for the part numbers that you mentioned but come up with nothing? that site seems to only sell fastenings of various types and not S1- brake parts, is that the correct site :(

Still expensive for a jam tin with a hole in the bottom but I guess beggars cannot be choosers.

I'm not sure if a jam tin with a hole in it is roadworthy down here.
Maybe I should get it registered in Canberra.

Finding those brake reservior cans in good nik is not easy.
There is a lot of similar cans about.
The CAT glue tin is similar dimensions not exact but will do till the right
one can be found. Drill a hole in the bottom and screw in the fitting
with new washers and it will work. Mark

Somehow I don't think that will sell. You might be able to fix it up, but GBP 999.00 for postage?

Hi there S1 owners,
I have found this item on Melvyn Rutter's Morgan car web site at

Melvyn Rutter - Brake HydraulicsBrake Hydraulics (http://mogparts.net/default.aspx?cid=59)

See page 2 , 10 down. (http://mogparts.net/default.aspx?cid=59)

They are identical to the land rover ones and they even make one with 2 outlets at the bottom of the can. I have their catalogue and from this I could build a complete Morgan car. They are the only manufacturer in the world still in private hands and still stock parts for even the very first car made in 1934. I mention this because most of the parts for the early years of Series one land rovers brake parts, are indeed the very same used on Morgan s and they are still obtainable. So check out the site, and maybe its worth buying a catalogue for looking at, in a pictorial form, all the parts that might fit our beloved landies?
This is the pictures that I have just received, look the same to me!

Thanks for the link Mildred but 62 GBP sounds rather expensive!

The only thing that is stopping me from making bucket loads of these is getting the cap and neck :( If anyone can find a business that makes screw-top cans please let me know,

Cheers Charlie

Containers Ltd used to be in Hurstville, I think they moved. I used to cart tinplate into. and scrap out of There used to be caps filler necks and cans
ect but i could not think of a use for them at the time.
Morris Mcmahon make tin cans i think they are still in Arncliffe Syd........

From memory it is divided into 2 compartments so if you can remove the centre bit and you are Good at soldering yes it will work.......
