I was walking out the back to lock up the shed tonight and as I walked past the two series ones lined up in the back yard it crossed my mind that the easterly breeze carried a distinct scent of old lubricant, grease and gear oil. As I locked up the shed I pondered that that smell is almost as good as the scent of baked on dust and lubricant that you get on old tractors.

Ok I admit I have a problem, anyone else have a similar ailment :D

Tote

I moved my work desk so I could see my Landy through the window, even though a picture of it is my computer background and I have model Landies on my desk.

I don't see any problem

I like nothing more than going down to the shed where the stage 1 sits on blocks waiting for me and having a nice quite beer and a chat:wasntme:

Its only a problem when you attend meetings and frequent support groups.

it's amazing how the smell of something takes you back, the smell of Castrol 2 stroke always takes me back to my mate Spratts garage the night he took delivery of a brand new Kawasaki 250 S1C,he'd started and stopped it that much the plugs had oiled, when I got it going the garage was full of 2 stroke smoke, and that was Jan 1976.

I have setup my laptop in the garage so I can search for help while tackling jobs on the restoration.

Replacement tyres arrived yesterday so I am sitting here with the smell of them surrounding me...

I also love that smell. Reminds me when I drove a tractor for a quid. Also reminds me of having to top up the transfer case oil on my last desert trip on the Madigan when I had a prop shaft leak.

I think I will head down the tractor shed and have a quick sniff..........ah, that's better

There's nothing more pleasing than the smell of a garage/workshop or the smell of gun oil, it has a distinct aroma.

But you can keep the smell of used gear oil.... get it on yourself and phew!

Hi,
a mate of mine is a bit of a bloke, not much in to the romantic stuff with the Mrs.
She was over the moon with happiness the day he came home and gave her a small bottle of 'perfume'.
"He actually got me perfume" she gasped to the rest of the family.
We didn't have the heart to tell her it was actually screwing oil from the workshop.

But hey! Isn't that what perfume is made for anyway?

cheers
